The Lennon Piano
What an inspired idea -- the piano John Lennon composed "Imagine" on (currently considered the most valuable piece of pop memorabilia and presently valued at $12 million), is currently on tour across America. Purchased in 2000 by George Michael, the piano is being taken to horrific sites of murder and carnage, where visitors can play the piano and commune with the sense of love and healing that was John's enduring message. See arresting photographs and learn more about the Lennon piano project here: www.lennonpiano.com

9/11, The Oklahoma City bombing, Virginia Tech, the Watts Riots, the assassinations of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Presidents Abraham Lincoln and John F Kennedy, all horrific acts of violence, all catastrophic, all senseless.

Imagine a world without violence, a world of peace. This sentiment echoes the lyrics to John Lennon’s 1971 song, “Imagine”.

The concept of the tour was conceived after the piano was showcased at the IMAGINE exhibition at Goss Gallery in Dallas, Texas, 2006

The photographs will feature in a book which will spread a worldwide message of peace, transcending time, cultures and boundaries.

The piano has been photographed at:
- Dealy Plaza in Dallas, Texas where President John F Kennedy was assassinated on November 22nd,1963
- Memphis, Tennessee. at the National Civil Rights Museum (previously the Lorraine Motel) where Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated on April 4th, 1968
- The Ford Theatre in Washington D.C., the site of President Lincoln’s assassination 142 years ago.
- The Walls at Texas State Penitentiary in Huntsville, Texas, on the day of a prisoner’s execution.
- The Oklahoma City National Memorial on the 12th anniversary of the bombing tragedy.
- The site of the former Branch Davidian Compound where over 80 people died 13 years ago.
- The home of Bill Clayton who committed suicide 12 years ago after being beaten by a gay hate gang.
- In Texarkana at the site where the Phantom Murderer killed his 1st two victims in 1946

Future planned photographs to be taken in the US and UK, include the site of the World Trade Center attacks and London bombings.

“Kenny and George’s deepest wish is to imagine a world of peace, a world without violence,” said Caroline True, creative director. "The selection of these sites evokes a deep sense of emotion for everyone. Capturing these images of this special piano on which a song of peace was composed is the heart of this project."

John Lennon was the epitomy of foul, non-bathing Euro-trash. His intelligence was that of a retard, as evidenced by the way he let a transparent, greedy, gold digger turn him into a solitary weirdo. Though I am thankful she was able to break up the Beatles, saving the world from more 3 chord elevator music.

Whole or cream corn? I prefer cream corn with diarrhea and whole corn with lumpy shit. If not, I'll pass. The other combinations are simply vile.

One word: "monachos". And no - "With extra cheese." doesn't follow that.

I'm sure what I'm about to say will be deemed as irrelevant but it's relevant to me.

Monachos is a Greek word that means "alone" - someone who is at one with self. Lennon embodied that term.

Lennon led a life in which even at an early age he had to be surrounded by people. Friends, family, whomever he could round up. He seemed to always need an audience in order to function. Later in life he discovered himself and became "single" and "independent" - at one with himelf. Sure. Yoko was there but ultimately, I don't think he NEEDED her like he had always needed everyone else.

The Moody Blues has a line (I can't recall exactly): a young man went on a journey and found - HIMSELF.

Here is a Gnostic reference for monachos:

- from THE SECRET TEACHINGS OF JESUS
(Four Gnostic Gospels)
Translated by Marvin W. Meyer
Translation Copyright 1984 by Marvin W. Meyer

Saying 49
Jesus said,
"Blessed are those who are alone (monachos) and chosen:
you will find the kingdom.
For you have come from it,
and you will return there again."

Ah, yes - that JOURNEYesque "life is a carousel" motif...

He became drug dependant, you stupid fuck. Though he probably WANTED to get out more, the main side effect of LSD and marijuana is PARANOIA. Way to once again look WAY too deep into something. I suppose the Una-Bomber found "himself" too? Stay off the hallucinogens, asshole.

Do you have evidence of his paranoia or are you quoting from old National Enquirer clips?

It seems to me that he was 100% lucid during the time he wrote Imagine. All of the clips I've seen of him working on his piano and in the studio display a very sober perfectionist.

The lyrics of Imagine contradict your charge. I can't see how a paranoid, delusional robot controlled by Yoko Ono could write something so lucid and passionate.

The Una-Bomber...? Or was it Uni-Bomber? I mean that guy wanted to DESTROY humanity. Lennone was trying to bring it TOGETHER.

You know - come together, right now... How can you compare the two? Goofy.

Nope. Can't "imagine" it, nor do I want to. Too many fucked up people in the world that WARRANT hatred and deserve death. Sorry, but I don't subscribe to utopice fairy tales. I tend to live in the realm of reality. Gotta go, time to watch wrestling!

Poor Lennon....He just stumbled on the wrong people. If Chapman wouldn't have killed him that day,Yoko Ono would've finished him anyway.
Her and the drugs.
I like his songs although some of them sound like thay have drug inspired/induced lyrical content.

I can't believe George Michael bought that piano. When did he got out of that toilet?

The very thought of Michael's semen drenched raw asshole sitting on that piano while he belts out a rendition of "Careless Whisper" puts a HUGE smile on my face.

Lennon had been off drugs since the early 70s. He was living a clean life eating macrobiotic food and only occasionally smoked pot in his later life. Big friggin' deal. He went through a period in mid 70s when he and Yoko split where he drank too much and woke up to that whole thing and what it did to him. Yoko was responsible for a lot of John's paranoia and isolation. When he left Yoko in 73/74, he was seen everywhere and did a few albums. It was actually a very creative time for him.

Some of the songs have influences in drugs but most of them did not. For people to say "he was a drug freak blah blah blah" talk about idiotic jerkoffs. Lennon did a hell of a lot for charities like the One to One shows in New York for the children's hospital there. As did George with the Bangledesh shows. John was naive, but you know, I'd rather have John Paul George and Ringo's naive sayings of "All You Need Is Love" to the bullshit and no hope that seems to be in the world today. The Beatles were an amazing band. Not amazing players but something about them together was magical and there will never be another band like them. I'd rather have ONE Beatles than a million Journeys any day of the week.

So you're saying Journey's music is negative, and they are not good players. :?
