I was gonna say, I thought it was last night but it was last years greatest hits. Some good hits on that too. I'd go on one of those investigations in a heartbeat.

I don't believe in ghosts. That show is fun to watch, but you know that the "ghostly effects" are just people off camera making noises.

You can't believe ANY reality show.

Like I said, though, I do watch it for the fun of it. They are pretty good actors.

I love watching those 'ghost hunter' shows. It's funny what the power of suggestion will do to people.

I believe there are ghost, too, but when you put a group of people in a place that's supposedly 'haunted' and put them in that mindset they will get freaked over anything. Still, those shows are a hoot to watch. Usually the backstory on the locations are pretty interesting as well.

I've had instances where I smell my Grandmother's Perfume or my Grandfathers (awful!! :x) cigar smoke. Out of nowhere. They've been dead for over 20 years.

And roses ~ when there's none in sight....

(...and yeah; I see you-all taking a collective "giant step" away from me...)

My friend has an amazing story.

His dad died in January of 1992. Six months later to the day, he was thinking about his dad and writing a letter to someone late at night.

The next morning, he woke up and went down for breakfast.. His mom asked him if he kept turning the light on in their bedroom. She kept waking up because the lamp on the side of the bed that his dad slept on kept turning on. He said he never came in the room at all.

Then he told her something funny happened to him, too. He was writing a letter, and noticed that his handwriting looked different. He went and got the letter and showed his mom. She started crying and told him, "that is your father's handwriting."

True story.

Love to hear about those experiences, Nig. I've always wanted to see something weird like that, but never have, so as much as I want to believe in the paranormal, I'm not sure if I can really say I do. I do live in the Show-Me state, don'tcha know. :D

Thankfully, I've only ever had 1 questionably ghostly thing happen with me in proximity. Vacation cabin in the Green Mtns of VT, 3 O'Clock in the morning all windows shut with the AC on and an upstairs door slammed so fucking hard it sounded like a wrecking ball hitting a the side of a building and no one alive and human was upstairs at the time. Creeped me the hell out.

My wife is very interested in ghosts and the afterlife, has read many a book on the subject. She has stayed at haunted places several times, but nothing happened. Finally, she stayed at a haunted B&B with two girlfriends. She was in bed late at night and the closet door opened on its own. She saw the figure of a woman walk out and come to her bedside. She was frozen, couldn't move a muscle. She saw smoke or what looked like smoke coming out of her mouth. This lasted for a few minutes, then she went back to the closet. Then she could move, turned the light on and told the other two girls what happened. They said they felt someone pulling on their hair, but didn't want to freak the others out.

Wow, that's pretty wild. I've always been interested in hearing about experiences like that.

I can't wait for the new Ghost Hunter episodes! I do hope that they open this season with some more stuff from England or Ireland, since the last one was done over there. :D

I do know they are coming back to Philadelphia to Eastern State Pen again in June. They are having a huge investigation that they invited fans to participate in. Jason was just on the radio talking about it. Should be a good time.

I have a similar story to that....oh, and the Grandmother / perfume in question, is Loretta:
Image

When she died, I was a Freshman in College, 1986...I didn't have a chance to see her beforehand. She and I always had a close bond; I felt very close to her. She always told me that looking at me "was like looking at a mirror" of when she was younger. Now, at almost 40, I "see" exactly what she means.

So anyways, my Mom and older sister were in my Dorm room; my sister was a nervous wreck and very upset, and lit up a cigarette in my room. I told her to put it out; we got in a fight, etc...very raw emotions....so, she went outside. The room STUNK of smoke, so I grabbed the first thing I could find, and sprayed it around the room:

....it just happened to be Loretta's favorite perfume.

I left the room, met them outside, said goodbye, and went back into my room. I left the light on when I left the room...

...and it was OFF when I went back in.

I turned the light back on, went down the hall to look for a friend - she wasn't there; I went back to my room, opened the door again...

...and the light was OFF ~ AGAIN.

The girl across the hall, Lynette, was in her room, with the door opened; I asked her if my roommate was back; did she go into our room....she said "no".

SO, I left the room, LOCKED THE DOOR, walked around for a bit, and came back....I asked Lynette if my roommate was back; again, she said no. I opened the door...

....and the light was OFF.

Not only that, but the air had an "electric" feel to it.

I've done a lot of reading about the subject too NIG. I'd love to compare ideas and theories with your wife sometime.

It only makes sense to me that the essence of what makes us living entities has to be something other than the flesh, bone and blood that we're physically made of. That essence doesn't necessarily have to dissipate simply because the body it's contained in stops functioning. I don't see why people can believe so easily in one form of spiritual afterlife as part of religion and can be completely unaccepting of the possibility of any other.

The first new episode of Ghost Hunters on Wednesday will featur the team going back to Ireland to investigate a different location. Grant said it was truly a memorable and once in a lifetime experience...so Im hoping its a good 'un!

Also, on the Sci Fi channel website they are promoting a contest starting next wednesday. Apparantly, you can send in a video and try to win a spot to investigate with TAPS on tv next Halloween!. Rumor has it it will be at Waverly Hills Sanitarium. Since I am a goofball, I will of course send in a tape 8)

I just want to have the chance to be interviewed on tv and say..."Yeah, me and Grant were....." :D
