I'd be ok with it if:

#1 - It was any band but Green Day and that fake British accent
#2 - If he didn't pretend he didn't know the words. If you can play the song, you most likely know the words. He was just trying to be too cool.

Funny you mention that...last week after "High On You" Jimi was kinda making fun of himself saying "People would come up to me after shows in the 80's saying 'YOU sang that song?? I thought that was Journey'" Nice little comic relief.

There is a REAL question as to whether or not Green Day has ANY talent. They suck! They have been using the same three chords for the past ten years. They are AWFUL! Terrible vocals, and horrendous musicianship - almost as crappy as Pearl Jam and Nirvana, but at least those bands had something to say about the world, whether or not the delivery is flawed. One of my students, who also takes guitar lessons, asked his teacher to teach him a couple of Green Day songs, and the teacher begrudgingly taught him how to play both of them in a half an hour...at which point Scotty decided the music was far too simplistic and unchallenging. THEY HAVE NO TALENT. One of the worst bands ever...and EOTT is a CLASSIC.
