Singers On Standby?

Postby Citygirl » Thu Jun 14, 2007 8:20 am

TNC mentioned in another thread that he wouldn't be surprised if there had been singers on standby over the years.

Does anyone know if in fact this has actually been going on? If maybe Jeff and others were on standby for a lot longer than we think while SA was still there, and if others possibly continued to be on standby once they had Jeff? Somehow I don't think that would have been the case during Perry's time cos if it had been then Journey wouldn't have stopped touring for a good few years after he decided he didn't want to tour anymore.

Maybe someone with inside knowledge can confirm this. Have they secretely (or not as the case may be) been auditioning singers and kept them on standby for when they decide "we don't want this guy anymore" for whatever reason?

I don't believe this to be the case.

Deano and others have mentioned a cd with Jeff singing the greatest hits minus Perry's vox on it.
I heard about this cd long before Augeri was sent home.
It is my contention that this was the result of an official Journey audition commissioned by Mngt.
Knowing this, i think I'd be safe to assume that they tapped a few diff. capable singers throughout the Augeri era.

I was also informed that during the Def tour there was a 'contingency plan' in case Jeff didn't pass muster.
Now, knowing this, who here wants to bet that plan was another singer waiting in the wings?

Granted, this is all largely conjecture on my part, but factoring in today's revelations, it does give a fan pause.

Then where did the GH hits cd minus Perry's vox come from?
Just an expensive hobby of Jeff's?

Just a bit of fun between the guys when they were recording the SS album in Jon's studio. Love the 4 tracks though :)

Ok. That sounds plausible enough.
You've won this round, ferret-face, but so help me god, one more remotely conspicuous action from this band and I will personally see to it that you are put on a no-fly-list for all Chicago-bound flights.
Maybe one of us will be generous enough to call you during your own concert.
Am I understood, you kangaroo-kabob eating freak?

LOL
Clearly sir!

But I don't eat my fellow Kangaroo's. Meat is too tough from all that jumpin' around...see you in Chicago? (If I can smuggle myself there...)
