what a way to find a new lead singer? They can be the next group on the show to be looking for a lead singer. Why not? It would finally give them some exposure and gee with their current hype with DSB at the end of the Sopranos who knows?

Couldn't you just see it with Neal and Jon critiquing?.....

I think it'd be good for Journey's career with the kind of casual fans who continually go see them play the dirty dozen and own the Greatest Hits CD.

I think it'd be embarassing to Journey's real fans, who unfortunately are far less in number than the people who own the Greatest Hits CD.

Bingo! The powers that be are very content to make the money selling the rights to songs for TV shows etc....and really aren't wanting to move anywhere forward I believe...it's the almightly dollar speaking. They tried with Augeri and his voice gave out....then JSS stepped in poor guy, a really decent guy who probably didn't see it coming....

But why not find someone totally different? They'll be just like INXS and choose a good imitator....it'll sell records....

Yeah I read your post, idiot. There was alot of positive press for JSS. He saved their collective asses. General fans don't know squat about the band. They are just there to hear the GH. Alot of fans couldn't accept Augeri either. Why didn't Journey dump him after the first year? And Augeri did at one point sound similar to Perry.

You should really think before you post. Typing without a brain isn't good.

No many folks didn't accept Augeri, nor JSS or anyone other than SP. When it was a new song they got up to get beer or go pee. I was there.....too many times.....I was there..... But the core fans came to accept Steve A and Jeff. They enjoyed the possibility to hear new music because they were true fans. I loved Soul Sirkus, thought it was a fantastic project and one of the best concerts I had seen in a long time. But the everyday fan just didn't get it....and they are the ones buying the tickets. All comes down to the almighty dollar at the end of the day. Everyone has bills to pay to include Schon and Cain.

Class speaks for itself. It doesn't call someone names.... Jeff has stepped out with remarkable class as did Steve A...

Bullshit. Let me tell u a few stories. One nite I'm at a Journey show & out having a smoke talking to some other smokers. They're reminiscing about the good times when they first heard the songs. Awww. They say the lead singer is on fire & everyone looks just a tad older than they did on MTV. It was SA singing that nite. I say "so u like the new singer?" Blank stares. "New singer, huh? That's the same guy w/a perm?" I say "no Steve Perry was the singer." They say "Steve Perry, isnt he the lead singer of Aerosmith?" Another show w/JSS. Same question. "Oh that's the same guy w/a perm & a tan!"

Another fan who says she is diehard Steve Perry & the new singer is not as good doesnt realize she is talking about 2 lead singers: SA & JSS. She thought they were the same person. Then she wondered why they didnt play her favorite journey song & showed me her iPod w/the song spelled "Oh Sherry". She's upset it wasnt spelled like her name: Sheri. Has no idea it isnt even a Journey song or spelled "Sherry" in the first place. But she's a diehard Perry fan. She never even heard of his solo albums.

Casual fans dont care who sings. They go to one show every 5 yrs. They dont go to multiple shows a yr like the REAL FANS. They bought GH & they're done. So Journey might as well play the GH to the once every 5 yr crowd, huh? WTF. They care about the songs. Not who's singing or playing. IF they know a name of any member, it's Steve Perry. Who is Neal Schon or Jonathan Cain to them? No one. They never even looked at their names on the back of the album they bought in HS.

Unfortunately I dont think there are enough of them to fill seats every nite every summer. What they just to Jeff did lost a ton of core fans & many casual fans will hear & think twice about going to see them.

That's the truth. Read it dude. Have some sense.

It isn't the general fans who buy all the tickets. You wouldn't believe how many core fans bought 5 star tix at, lets say for this post, $500.00 a pop for 1 tix, mulitple times, going long distances just to see Journey. General fans did not do that. All they know is GH and that is it. Journey shouldn't of been too concerned about those general fans, who are keeping them in the 80's. If Journey truly wanted to move in a new direction, they have to take chances.

Frick and Frack don't want to take any chances, so they also keep themselves in the 80's. Too bad that the best thing they had in recent years was booted out the door by them without any info as to why the booting occured.

Journey, as I said, is a laughingstock, and someday what happened now will affect future cd sales.

I truly have to agree with you. So many of the hard core fans bought those $500 tics...I paid some scalpers small fortunes....but at the end of the day they aren't concerned with the hardcore fans I believe ya know? They haven't had cd sales in years....I guess the most positive thing out of this is that Jeff got some great exposure and a new fan base and hopefully that will bolster his career you know? Is the glass half empty or half full?

And remember this whole thread's subject was truly tongue in cheek LOL

Let's see...

Rockstar 1 - INXS - 1 album - Where are they now?
Rockstar 2 - Supernova - 1 album - Gilby bolts, Tommy gone - Lukas doing a solo tour in bars
Rockstar 3 - Journey - I would never watch it.

Well it's been good for a laugh at the thought of it and I think in "jouneyland" folks need a laugh....

Too bad about being cancelled I actually enjoyed the show. Thought both bands passed over incredible talent but really enjoyed seeing another side to the industry and artists that play instruments and sing etc. Made idol look like child's play. It was a good show. Thought both bands sold out on their choices....
