Journey officially a joke (on the radio)......

Postby Deb » Fri Jun 15, 2007 1:05 am

How sad.......

A good friend of mine from Toronto, told me her husband heard about this on the radio on his way home from work yesterday. After playing a Journey song, the announcer then said: ........and if you're looking for a job, Journey's got an opening for leader singer, with the departure of so and so, who replaced so and so, who replaced so and so.

I mentioned it on my show yesterday too and told my listeners how pissed off all you folks are. What a mess.

At this point, they
might as well change the band's
name to the english translation
of "Menudo"!
... and that would be "Menudo", I guess! :D

Wow. At a time when things should be going well with this band, they're becoming a laughing stock, and they have only themselves to blame. Pitiful, to say the least.

Ditto.

It makes me sad and angry that a band that I have been a fan of for 30 years has become a laughingstock.

Me too, but life goes on. I am pissed at VH for fucking up all the time, too. But we really can't expect these groups to last forever. There is a limit to the music they can give us.

All you guys will be back on the bandwagon, along with me, should they somehow manage to get Perry back onboard for one final album and/or tour.

Oh,my...to come here and read this. :(
It's already spreading like wildfires...This is not only about Internet messageboards and diehard fans anymore...Everyone will shake their heads.
There will be malicious, ironic comments all over the place, you know, something like

" - Do you know who's the lead singer in Journey?

- You mean this week?"

Sorry, bad morning show joke, but you know what I mean....

This is one of the saddest chapters in Journey's history.

So sad but it is true, for me at least...
But my support would be soley
from the standpoint of getting to hear
Perry's voice again and the chance for
my daughter Bella to actually see Perry in concert...
But my support would go no further.

In the grand scheme of thins, that would mean
nothing to the other assholes in the band because
they would get my money regardless...

but at least in my heart, I would know why I am
there and be able to look at myself in the mirror everyday afterward :)

Might be wishful thinking on their part. They might want the Soprano's exposure to trump JSS's departure, might not necessarily be the case. In this case anyways, as far as I know the Sopranos wasn't even mentioned.

Everyone has a tolerance. Some people couldn't believe fans would support them after they brought in SP. Same with JC coming in and GR leaving. Same with the arrivals of both SA and JSS.

I supported them through ALL OF IT and I'll continue to do so. I may not always like HOW they do things but ultimately, it's THEIR art NOT mine. If it were up to me they would've kept JSS and pursued a Latin rhythm album as he and Neal are more than capable of that style. They could've created something cool but they've decided instead to pursue their "legacy sound".

Oh, well!

I'm a FAN - nothing more, nothing less. I'm not an "insider" or a friend of a friend of a friend of the band. I have absolutely ZERO personal connection with them. I connect with THE MUSIC. I can understand and appreciate from where you and others with "connections" are coming from, though.

Bottom line for me is that if their future work is schlock like TBF-Generations OR something worth a damn like Journey-ROR then I'll respond accordingly.

Until then I'm just sittin' here watchin' the wheels go 'round and 'round...

In a heartbeat. But it will be only for me to finally see Steve P and the classic line-up live once. I'd love for him to come back, restore the band and it legacy to the proper status and then put the Harley that is Journey back into the garage, turn out the light and lock the door.

Then for the future he can kick out cool stuff from the catalog that everyone has been craving.

Friga and Fro then need to be shown the exit. Fro can do his solo thing and mess up other projects while leaving Journey restored and intact.

Just my $.02. It wont happen and we're left with a damaged legacy. Nice work Fro and Friga!

I think that's the point we are trying to make, WyngDynger...
There isn't gonna be any TBF-Generations or ROR schlock
because these fuckers are too greedy and lazy to record any new music in the future!
They had their chance with Jeff to do that but seem content to just
put together the Ultimate Steve Perry Tribute Band and just
keep touring the hell out of the GH package until they can
start collecting Social Security checks...

You're a fan like all of us but how could you go on
supporting that kind of menality and product?

What product? Live or studio?

Listen - I'm the sole provider for income for my family of 5. I humbly admit I that I can't provide much - we qualify for government programs. This greatly limits the $ I have to spend therefore I haven't seen JOURNEY live since 1998 - and I'm pretty sure it WAS live. Other than that I buy the albums and support them word-of-mouth. It's not like I'm financially or emotionally attached!

Ultimately, I'm a simpleton. I'm in support of THE MUSIC. That's it. Just trying to keep it sweet and simple

I've been VERY VOCAL and have expressed my disgust with JOURNEY being a tribute band SINCE 1998!!! So much so that I upset some people and was nearly banned at BT.

I can't agree with all of the moves they've made so - NO - I do NOT support that kind of mentality.

Again - I support THE MUSIC. I simply don't have the mental faculties or financial ability to do anything more than that.

How many times does SP have to say it?? He has been done with JRNY since '98 - done - kaput & I BELIEVE HIM! And, if anyone answers "money talks" -- Bullshit! He is quite comfortable in all the dough he gets just from placing songs in t.v. shows & the past CDs! Again, SP has integrity and the band now shows more than ever that they don't. Please, to not even tell the lead singer, JSS, that he is no longer in the band - he has to hear it thru the rumor mill??!! Pathetic. I for one have no interest in seeing JRNY again, nor buying their side projects. And, note to the "next lead singer" watch out - it's disappearing ink on that contract.

Speaking of Radio, I listen to Sirius everyday at work in the morning. Mornings I listen to Howard Stern.

Howard played DON'T STOP BELIEVIN' Today, and noted he loves Journey and this song. He went onto mention about Steve Perry not wanting anything to do witht he Soprano's unless he KNEW what was up during the last episode and everything dealing with that. Artie went on to say Perry is a whackjob, and Robyn chimed in by saying she hates Journey as a whole. Atleast Howard and Artie likes them.
