MOVED TO WRITE - ASTROPHYSICS AND JEFF SCOTT SOTO

"thinking about our great pal, Jeff Scott Soto. Many of you have been writing to me about the shock of seeing him suddenly erased from the Journey website, as if he had never existed. It's a strange place that I view this from. Journey are, in a way, in a very similar position to ourselves. They have a legacy of hits which people will always want to hear played live. And their singer all through their Golden Age can no longer perform with them (Steve Perry, a truly luminous singer, in my opinion - a voice in a million). So the Journey guys (I wrote about them just a couple of months ago when they visited - Neal Schon is a fabulous player and an esteemed friend of mine) have a similarly difficult and maddeningly set of options to juggle."

As TNC would say, that is like ambrosia from the Gods, getting props from Brian May like that. I am sure JSS would have been the singer for Queen if Rodgers had declined.

What a great read...Brian May is truly an intelligent guy.He has such a clear vision on how should things work.
Yeah...Number 4 was the best thing that happened to Journey.

Right now,if they want to save what's left of the legacy and insist on going on,they should do # 3.Enough damage has been done to the name "Journey".

Now I know how Texans fans felt when Houston let Reggie Bush slip through their fingers. Journey had him, and lost him.

This is my favourite bit.....
"it's understandable that Journey might decide to make a U-turn. I just hope that they will be man enough to say so if this is the case, rather than hiding behind some kind of pretence that it was a mutual decision. That's an integrity thing, and a Karma thing. You have to own yer own poo. And I hope they will see fit to recognise Jeff's lasting contribution to the Family, and realise that he deserves to be treated with respect"

Well said, Brian. Takes a gentleman to recognise that another gentleman has been shat on in the shittiest of ways.

Thanks for posting this Dave. It's nice to see the view of someone so respected in the music industry, especially someone who has gone down the road of replacing a singer. You gotta love Brian May. It's nice to see Jeff respected by his peers and hopefully that will help in this shocking situation he is in.

No, my thread had nothing to do with Brian's outstanding assessmnet...
I just thought it was a neat coincidence that we both started threads
at the same time with a "Queen" theme

You have to own ye own poo

Frig n Fro are so deep in their own poo, they have no choice but to own it.

Good to see Brian stand up for Jeff.

Thanks for posting that Dave. It's one thing for the fans, the "nobodies" to be outraged. It's quite another when peers/friends are outraged too. I hope that sends a VERY STRONG MESSAGE to Friga & Fro!

So, do you think Brian May will be taken off Friga's christmas card list??

I've followed Brian May my whole life - well before JOURNEY. He's an incredible artist and a warm and caring person. His words are indeed ambrosia.

Who knows? Maybe the things said here and on the blog will help them reconsider?

Not trying to be too confrontational with you WyngDynger but
what would there be to reconsider???
You think those 2 pompous asses would
extend an apology to Jeff and try to mend fences???

Shit, do you honestly think Jeff would
give them the time of day after how all this
has gone down???

If you meant "reconsider just retiring this band for good" then I agree with you...
But if you meant reconsider Jeff... Forget it, ain't ever gonna happen.

Yeah, if fans can get Jericho back on the air, maybe they can help Journey make the right decision?

Wow, very well said. That must have been very hard for him to have written, and yet it was delivered with all the tact, forethought and elegence you would expect from a man of his class.

What I wouldn't give to see Mr. May and Mr. Soto tour together......
