This has been an interesting turn in Journey's, Journey. While I find it dissapointing that Jeff Scott Soto is no longer in the band, I also find myself intrigued at what lies ahead for the band. Journey has a pretty dedicated fan base, as witnessed on these forums, who also have to be wondering whats next. Not everyone welcomed Steve Augeri to the band, I personally thought he was great. He was able to duplicate the signature Journey/Perry sound very well. JSS brought his own vibe to the band and they still managed to sound like Journey. I saw the Def Leppard / Journey tour in Auburn WA, from the VIP section and was amazed at what he brought to the band in a live setting. I also saw the band a few times with Augeri, he was also excellent. I left the shows satisfied that I had seen Journey put on a great show. It was Journey to me with Augeri or JSS. I am too young to have seen them with Perry during their prime in the 80's but I have a tremendous amount of respect for what started the Journey/Perry sound. That being said, Cain/Schon now have a job to do. Get someone who can contribute in the way Perry/Augeri/Soto have. That is no easy task. While they have been ripped on this forum, I have taken a step back and have started to think about the pressure they now have on their shoulders. They have to produce. They have no other option. It is all up to them as to what kind of product or performance thay want to give the fans.
While it is easy to be angry and criticize the current events, lets not forget all the enjoyment we have gotten out of Journey over the years. We, the fans, can only look ahead with high hopes.
It's for Journey to decide..........
