Funny, but at this point...

Steve Perry is the only Journey member who still has ANY shot at being viable again.
Assuming he really is writting with Nuno Bettencourt and can still sing, it would be perfect timing... journey didn't take advantage of the great publicity the band is getting SP should go for it.

"I never really felt like I was part of the band" - Steve Perry

It all makes sense now.

But WHAT IF.....

Jeremey becomes the singer, and a year or so from now, they release a CD that takes up where Frontiers left off with incredible, Perry-sounding songs.

Then what would you do?

I-for one- will walk right by it with my nose in the air. Nothing against Jeremy, but I just dont care to hear another new Journey anything anymore....unless AR decides to sing with Jeff again....

I seriously doubt that will happen, regardless, I will ignore it like 99.9% of everyone else not on this forum

Personally, I would rather have a rocker with less ballads.

I would just go home and play the original Frontiers.
If I want to hear Perry-sounding songs, I'll listen to real Perry songs.

And apparently if I want to hear Soto-sounding songs, I WON'T BE FINDING THEM ON ANY JOURNEY CDs!!!

 Fuckers.

they could make the greatest sounding record in the world. the issue these days is promotion and airplay. sure, people love new music. but only what they're introduced to. not everyone goes out and searches for new music. what they would need is some awesome airplay/videoplay and promotion. however, i'm not sure vh1/mtv are currently in the market of classic bands, as emo/"hard rock" and some other cookie-cutter shit is pretty much dominating right now. they COULD promote it on vh1 classic, but i doubt everyone has the ability for that channel.

case in point: reo speedwagon has an AWESOME new album out. yet, the only way i found out was by going into walmart. i haven't heard any of the singles or seen any videos anywhere.

it's all about trying to please and transform for the right people, and once you've done that, you've lost the reason for being the band you are.

NIG, even if it was the best ear candy I'd ever heard........I wouldn't buy it. It's nothing against Jeremey at all, he's a great guy, with a great voice. I just have absolutely zero respect left for Neal and I won't put one more nickel in Schon's pocket. I came back after what happened with Perry, and you know the old saying...........screw me over once, shame on you......screw me over twice, shame on me. Lead singers get such a bad rap all the time, but after meeting both Perry and Soto, can say they are both very unpretentious, down to earth guys. Total class! And I'm sorry but being a Taurus , loyalty and integrity go along way in my books.

Nothing. I barely purchased Arrival. I loved Red 13 and absolutely hate Generations.

At this point it aint worth my $$. If Perry wants to put out some cool product we've never heard before then I'm buying but my support for the post-Perry era was iffy to begin with. Now you want me to accept a tribute band singer...not that there is anything wrong with tribute bands.

Like I tell my kids...sometimes, no matter how hard you try it just wasnt meant to be.

As Dionne Warwick sang- Walk on by.....

No interest in new music trying to recreate the past. No one will ever touch Perry's vocals and that to me was the beauty of Jeff as lead vocalist. A new start with new music, an original with his own style out of Perry's shadow. Attempting to recreate the past is a tribute to days gone by, nothing more, nothing less.

He still would have been singing the oldies though if they toured and maybe what 7 new songs at best if their album had suceeded. that's a big IF .
Jeff was just a tribute singer too when you get right down to it, he's better off moving out of their pad and getting his own solo out with a major female artist. I hope it happens for him.
