Why be in denial?

Postby Muggins » Fri Jun 15, 2007 7:58 am

I think this is a very good point and worthy of bringing up again as it is very relevant to this present situation and the reason Jeff was brought in in the first place... to save Journey's ass and actually sing live! Has everyone forgotten or just believed the bands denial, as they are hardly going to admit it are they? The evidence is clear and without question. I was at one of the shows and it was definatley very odd in places, even with Deen trying his best to save Augeri's ass. When the scandal broke I wasn't surprised at all! They should be ashamed of themselves for treating the man, who saved their asses and made them a shit load of money in the process, with such disrespect. Bottom line, before Jeff, Steve Augeri used backing tapes for the lead vocal taken from the live DVD... fact. The evidence was posted on line at the time and really someone needs to ressurect it to prove to you all that it was one big cover up. The whole band needs to be in on something like that and you can't blame Augeri. He was no doubt struggling anf that was the route they all decided to take.

so they pretty much saw augeri as their last hope to cash in, so they were holding on to him with any means necessary? what did you find odd about the shows you saw?

All you have to do is search for TapeGate. You'll find something. We don't need NEW topics on THAT shit.

at the time, the search wasn't working. i'm still trying to find it, and the only thing i know is that for his last shows, they were using the track from the 2001 dvd...a fact i found out by posting.

there's no reason to get that pissed off about it. it's a simple question relating to the whole issue. like it or not, it has to do with jeff and the way the band treats their members.

I am not pissed either. You have less than 20 posts and bring this shit up (appears on the surface to be a shit-stirrer). It has been run through the mill 1 million times.

i'm not stirring shit, and my post count has nothing to do with that at all. i was just curious. like i said, melodicrock forums has been loading for half the time, and once i managed to get to the forum i figured i'd just ask, since it is related to everything and was brought up already in another thread.

Chrismo,

If you try going back in the archives to around June 2006, you will find thread after thread in regards to "tapegate".

You should be able to "Google" it also, but the best information would be here in the Journey Forum.

Peace to you~

Britney Tapes

Postby Muggins » Fri Jun 15, 2007 8:24 am

Why not bring it all out into the open as they used Jeff to hide the fact that they were caught out. How could they carry on? They even tried using Deen and then Neal eventually had to beg Jeff as he was THE only man who could pull it off in such a short space of time... mid tour. Jeff could have done the same for Queen or any number of bands as he's very versitile and professional. The fact that Journey used backing tapes for Augeri's lead vocal is important evidence is this fiasco of getting rid of Jeff. ie. Jeff distracted everyone... people began to forget about the tapes as they were blown away by this amazing new lead singer. Now that that Jeff has served his purpose they have got rid of him and that explains why they can't say why!

I saw Journey in Manchester with Augeri and it was odd to say the least. He was really struggling on the slower numbers with Deen carrying the notes for him, but when it came to the heavier stuff the vocals were perfect... too perfect and Steve had a habit of putting the mic close to his mouth, or back to the audience, which is an old trick. The sound was all over the place with each song, with the lead vocals just not synchronised! I joked at the time that Steve was miming, but didn't think it was possible with such a professional band. Then someone posted the evidence on here and had audio tracks of the Manchester show and when played at the same time as the live DVD you could easily hear that the vocals were the same! It was that simple and enough to convince me that I was right. I never went crazy about it as other people seemed to have it out there in the public domain, but now I am angry that I didn't join in and expose them at the time as there is no doubt about it in my mind. Check the evidence for yourself. Journey lied to everyone and then have the nerve to piss all over the very man who saved their asses. Shame on them.

I am not gonna get too involved in this discussion, but to answer the original topic posters question "when did augeri start using the tapes? ". I'd say when his 8track-player broke and he got a mall discount (through Gap ) when he bought a tape-player from Sam Goody .

What would be the point in some of you trashing Augies name again? Who cares if he worked at the Gap or McDonalds...it was a job.

Sometimes it never changes around here....the same 'ole, same 'ole over and over and over......

This is my second post, although I've been a viewer of MR for close to 9 years......Just discovered the forums the other day. Which is weird because of what's going on.

I was going to ask the same thing as the previous poster, about Tapegate.

What burns me is the way newbies are treated, like they are somehow 'less than' because they are new....and HOW DARE they bring up topics that are 'old news'.

that's all I got......

not sure if you saw it as an attempt to trash augeri, but i'm not. i am a fan of his work and would be dissapointed to know that the stuff i dig listening to was just a lip sync or vocal edit.

You have to understand that with all the things going on right now, and Journeys Official Forum (Back Talk) being closed for some weird reason(?), we expect alot of BackTalk-shit-starters to migrate over here to try to start, um, shit!
Nothing personal, its just with all the emotions goin on right now, we're on a "zero-tolerence-mode" regarding trolls/troublemakers/liars/shit-starters/pot-stirrers and or motherfuckers.
Having said that, if you're not amongst any of the above, welcome and have patience till things settle down here.

peace

PS! also if you're wondering about something specific such as "tapegate" feel free to use the search function. You'd be surprised what wonders that search does!

Backstabbers

Postby Muggins » Fri Jun 15, 2007 8:47 am

Personally, I don't think Augeri was to blame. I think he was in a difficult position because he was losing his voice, which was evident at a lot of the shows. It's not a decision a man makes on his own and doesn't tell the band. 'Everyone' has to be in on it because of the precise timing required when using backing tapes. It's harder than singing live, as you have to get it just right, especially the pauses for breathing. I believe Augeri was just a porn as Jeff was. Use them, then throw 'em out with the trash when done. Even Perry used to say that he never felt truly part of the band and everyone knows that Neal dominated everything they did and still does. How many times has he said that Journey cannot continue without him! It's the same old story. I feel sorry for Perry, Augeri and Jeff for trusting in people that they thought were friends. Jeff, you're a star. Hold your head up high with pride, as you made Journey's music sound alive again... if only for a brief period of time. You will be missed.

Was a member of BT since its inception....Was kicked out by Cj the terrible, when I told everyone of those leather pants worshipping stay-at-home moms to take off the rose-coloreds. And that was after YEARS of abuse from them....you couldn't even mention Perry.

Then almost everyone switched to 'The Cooler'....same thing there. Again got kicked off for some petty reason. At that point most switched to 'Tommy's Tiki Bar', or some shite like that....

I'm not new to Journey, and I'm not 16.....I just refused to listen to anything after ARRIVAL.

No offense....just letting you know. No troll here. But I'm pretty opinionated.

And I'm not new to JSS either.....been listening for over 20 years.
