Being a Journey fan is like being a drinker.

Recently we've had a really bad hangover. Something we like just hurt us pretty bad. Many of us have said, "I'll NEVER do that again" mainly because we still have the headache. Problem is we've been drinking for 30 years now and it's become quite the habit.

We've even sworn off the stuff before only to come back when the pain is gone and we have our strength back. For some people the hangover is so bad, that they have had that 'rock bottom' moment where they actually keep the promise to themselves about 'Never Again'.

But in the end for most its mainly just blowing smoke for now. The justification for coming back into the fold will begin. "Well it was hard liquor that did it, so I'll only drink beer now" (i.e. listen to Perry era on CD). Then it becomes "it was Jack Daniels, not ALL hard liquor, so I'll just stay away from that" (start listening to new material when the new singer is in the band). This moves us to "well I shouldn't have drank the Jack without eating first, that's what did it." (start attending concerts again). At that point, most us go "oh what the hell, must have been a convergence of planets or something" and start drinking like nothing ever happened.

At that point people will start posting about how so and so is the best singer Journey's ever had and that they can't wait until they record new music and that the band is so energized.....

But for now, live with the hangover and post about the pain until it goes away...

i'll tell you what, whew,if that is the case then we all need to decide a 12 step program to release us from the tortuous grip of journey, lol.

its like going to the concerts is kind of like going to the neighborhood bar sort of speak.and then you have a lot of choices and get to pick your beverage of choice which in this case is a cd or dvd.

there are millions who have this disease.it will soon be a silent killer, lol

To you it may be like a hang over, but in my case I am joining the AA to get rid of it for good!
Ive never turned my back against any band before. And the reason I am doing it now is not because they got rid of Jeff. Its because why and how they did it. Its about the way they showed how they truly are. When honesty is gone, nothing else matters.
I will not spend a dime towards these lying cowards! If youre gonna do it, fine, but I think you're wrong when you think that most of us(here at MR) are just experiencing a phase that soon will be gone.
The pain of losing a dear band member, may not last forever, but the lies will burn in image into one's memory.

You may actually stay away, and I'm sorry you feel you have to. Life experience tells me most will return. Myself and everyone here has heard the 'never again' statement that fails to stick. People now are still angry and are talking a good game, but you can't (and shouldn't) stay angry forever. When that ebbs, people will see it for what it is...two guys royally screwed another one over in a business move. It happens everyday.

You feel sorry for me!? I feel sorry for you cause you still tryin to hang on to remains of once great legacy. What else is there to hang on to!?
Sure , I will enjoy the old songs, but I sure as hell wont pay to go see them live again.
Theyre not gonna make any new music, so really, what are YOU supporting??

This isnt just about being angry, it's about the bitter reality were dealin with,,,,, when Jeff came along, it ignited a passion within the fans and withing the band. a week before Jeff was on stage with them a year ago, they looked like straight from a zombie movie. no movement, just standing there hoping the show would end so they could go to bed. Jeff changed it all and his energy got everyone excited about a new Journey. They had ONE last chance to avoid that grave, but not only did they blow that chance, but they also helped in digging that grave faster.

Sums up my feelings as well. I guess to me it's more than just 2 guys screwing over another. It's about honesty, integrity, respect, dignity.....I could go on and on here. I know it's just a band, but Jeff is a human being and was not treated as one. There are plenty of other bands I love who do not make business deals to screw one another, and that is where I will spend my money. Journey will just be on my ipod. A nasalgia group who I loved in my youth.

There's no way I'll be supporting the next incarnation of Journey. What they did to Jeff was uncalled for and unjustifiable in my eyes. They had a chance to shake off the "Dirty Dozen" label and actually build on the legacy that had already been created with Perry, but no Friga and Fro decided that they only wanna concentrate on sounding like the albums that they've already put out! What a fucking joke. Jeff came in and brought a new energy and prescence to the sinking ship that is Journey, everyone could see it, and now they're gonna be nothing but a "Greatest Hits" band. I sincerely Jeff bounces back from this and tells Neal where to stick his friendship. And whatever Jeff does next I'm behind him 100%.
