you people are missing the point. the point remains "the music". not jss, sa, jeremy, or jesus. journey music must live on powered by songs 1-15 on the greatest hits. of course things to be need handled with respect to others well being and personal choices but the bottom line has to be the music from sp in the 80's. without them there is no journey. some of you guys feel so attached that you forget what drew you in the first place. the music. as painful as it is, sa is gone and they have an obligation to deliver our favs in the best manor possible. personally i think jeremy is the weakest as far as stage presence, energy, apperance, and is simply just a "sound a like". jss was a great new way to go forward but simply didn't sound enough like songs 1-15 on the gh's. pick your poison. nobody wants to go to a journey show anchored by 13 new songs by a lounge act now. jeff was a real talented rocker who would have contributed greatly to the future but the past is where it has to hold water. i will still be at as many shows as possible every time they tour. lets just hope the re-think the decision for 1-15 and bring us somebody who can "BRING US " 1-15. anthing further is our gravy for remaining fans. stay +....... "time out"!

The music is not confined to the greatest hits. The true test of a band and its legion of fans is the subsequent following even after the glory days, so to speak. Many people were not Journey fans until Augeri came along, and many weren't until Jeff came along. So to infer we should sweep our support for Jeff under the rug because the main thing that matters is how they continue to perform the hits that the general public remembers is a slap in the face to the people who once upon a time committed themselves to a band. (That unfortunately does not return the favor.)

"The music" is more than just some nostalgic chord progression or lyric.

dude, did you buy Generations, or Voice, Eye on You,
red 13, those albums had music on them, lots of us bought
them and are the only few folks on the plantet that actually
know about them,,,,,,, they have been supported every year
from real fans,, the old days might have been about the music only,
but now its more, you have just joined a little on line community
where its about more than 4 min songs,, ..

..**i know generations was not bought 8)

Thank you Larry, that was what I was trying to stress here.

Some need to take off the legwarmers, put down the rubix cube, and join us here in 2007.

I SAID "ANCHORED BY THE HITS" NOT "JUST THE HITS". IT WAS TERRIBLY HANDELED BUT THATS THE DECISION MADE AND WE AS FANS HAVE TO ROLL WITH THE DECISIONS. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME IN THERE BUSINESS. LEAD SINGERS ARE THE VOICES OF THE WHOLE BAND AND OURS LEFT YEARS AGO. WE'LL BE OK. LETS GO PEOPLE. JOURNET 4 LIFE. NOT VERY BAND GETS A "HAGAR" TO COME OUT OF THE BULLPEN AND SAVE THE GAME FOR CONINUOUS GROWTH. ................"TIME OUT"!

I agree for the most part. Like you said, the music is what brings people into the venues, and people will see Journey to hear their favorite song from mostly the Perry Era. They tried moving in a new direction with S.A and S.A did just justice on his own albums with Arrival and Generations. But as we all know, Generations completly bombed and Journey took a big hit in sales with that album alone, only really getting the album out there from handing it out at the gate before each show. S.A held up for the most part singing the notable songs that make Journey, but in the end, the catalog is one of the toughest to sing, and Augeri had to step down when his voice can no longer hold.

With Generations bombing, and with Arrival having little success to its name, noone can argue that most sales of the Journey albums is the Greatest Hits CD and band management knows that. Why risk another failing album to their name with JSS, when all they really got to do is play the dirty dozen for the rest of their time as a band? Like I said, Jeff is best suited off solo or with his own bands, and Journey did him a favor by releasing him, and making him a household name in the states. Watch his career really set off..

You both may be right, but, in 2007, whether what Journey puts out, even an album better than Escape, they will NOT be as publicised as they once were, plain and simple. The music business changed, and it's Journey's job to keep on goin to let the world know that great music is still here to be played what ever the Generation.

But you can just see some sitting in their mom's basment listening to Menudo and playing their Atari.

Then coming out of the cave to say "Hey, hey, who cares about whats-his-face, I just wanna hear Open Arms."

Am I allowed to have my feelings about this then? U see it wasnt the music that drew me in. It was Steve Perry's voice & soul & the way I felt the song as hesang it. He could sing the phone book & I'd be drawn in. I could care less about Friga & Fro. I loved Perry doing those songs on FTLOSM tour when those jerks werent around. I didnt need them. I only went to Journey concerts b/c Perry wasnt touring. Augeri did a good enough job so I could enjoy the concert & after hearing some of the TS album, I always hoped he'd bring that. Other than Kiss Me Softly which wasnt performed live, I never got that w/Augeri. Just the dirty dozen over & over again & altho it was good, it wasnt Perry. Thankfully Augeri will rise again w/his own stuff soon & I'm waiting for that. Soto's other music made me want to hear him & once again I hoped for more creativity w/Journey as he was in the band & extremely capable. Alas that was not to be. Now I'm done. I'll go see Journey tribute bands & follow Soto, Augeri & hope Perry rides again.

1.) Cain's songs on his solo album make my ears bleed. And I can't believe I sold my soul to play them on my show in exchange for tickets.

2.) T-Time... I keep thinking "Stop... Hammer Time!" Maybe it means Tard time? Or Turd time?

Oh, that's what Journey's next tour of the Tractor Pulls and Livestock shows can be called... TURD TIME! WOO!

I disagree. If the quality is there, a Journey album could chart again (in at least some of the charts).

With the right management and the right time..maybe. Proof is that they could, look at Bon Jovi, and now Def Leppard is making new music. You're right, they could of def. charted again. I'm talkin' about the big picture, they will not be what they once were in any phase of the game.

No, they won't chart. At least not on Billboard or R&R.
Look at Cain's solo album, his label hyped it up as being Number One for ever... and that's on the FMQB charts... aka, no man's land. No one remotely relevant in music even considers that chart.

i believe richie sambora sold 15 copies of his solo album and revived the true engine, went on to sell about 100 million additional copies. we have to hang in until something or somebody revives it. they blew a golden chance with the sopranos and t knights using dsb in the shows to capitalize. they can chart again and probably will. just not with this next wooden indian in front. won't happen. i'll be waiting. until then, my cd player will still be blasting all the previous

Then, how the hell did REO Speedwagon do it? I'm not talking top 40 here...the rock charts or adult contemporary.
