IMAGINE....No more Journey FOREVER

Hi to all the guys and ladies that are discussing so emotional the future of the Melodicrock Band Journey and who and who not can or could or will or should not be the new singer.

First of all I've to say that I'm a die hard fan of Journey since their first days, but especially when Steve Perry joined the band. I was sad, when he left and happy again, when they went ahead with Steve Augeri. I was just happy that this great Band was still going on making music. I never had the idea to say "Steve Augeri is shit, because he doesn't sound like Steve Perry". When Steve Augeri had to leave because of his illness, I was sad again and I had my doubts about JSS if he is the right replacement (I know JSS very long through all his bands and have all his CDs and in my opinion he's one of the greatest HARDROCK singers in the world), but I was still happy that Journey went on. And now there will start (hopefully) a new chapter of the Journey history with a new singer. Whether it'll be Hugo or Jeffrey Hunsicker or Kevin Chalfant....I don't care as long as it will be a good singer and because then I know....Journey will go on.

All of you that are so critical...please do your self a favor and imagine this: Neal Schon, who's part in so many projects and things, decides to shut the Band Journey down forever...just really try to imagine. I'm pretty shure, that most of you would beg on your knees Neal to keep going on with Journey, no matter what singer they have.

All of this 3 guys are great singers I know for a long time (at least Hugo and Kevin...I know Jeffrey only from his work with Elemental) and I think they don't deserve that some guys put so many bad words about them into this forum. The last 2 days I read a lot of the posts in different topics and it came to me I'm in a forum for rappers because of that language. I thought, Melodicrock Fans are smarter.

And finally sure I like to hear new material, but I'm also happy when they play Best of in their shows. I live in Germany and this year Journey played 2 concerts here...the first 2 concerts in this country since more than 20 years. Last year I saw them in the Netherlands at the Arrow Rock Festival (still with Steve Augeri) and that gig was the first after 20 years in europe (by the way, it was gorgeous...my wife was crying). So, all you guys in USA..you don't know how lucky you are, cause you had and hopefully will have the chance every year to see this great Band live on stage.

Well, I hope I did not offend anybody...I just wanted to say...IMAGINE.....

Neal and Friga are pushing 60. The coffin is coming anyway. The hair dye and face lifts only cover so much. And Neal's estate will pay for his divorces for GENERATIONS!

Hello pot-slicker.
I for one would not beg or even ask for anything at this point from Journey.
It's all hearsay and mud to me now.

at this point, it'd be the best and possibly most sane thing they've done in the last 10 years. (Jeff coming on board briefly, aside)

The Journey is over. From here on out, I'll be laughing WITH the people who make fun of them, instead of wincing.

Friga is 57. Neal is only 53. I agree with the original post 100%.

They weren't that great live a few weeks ago, either.

I love Night Ranger. Just saw Shaw Blades - Outstanding!

Blades just tours with Night Ranger cauase the rest of the lot need him. Neverland was an excellent comeback.

Sorry. I AM begging him to shut down the band RIGHT now. It's over for me. I'll live in the past just like they wanna do. They deserve everything said about them & more.

I agree, that Shaw/Blades is a deadly combo. I LOVE every song on their first CD. Met Tommy and he's a great guy, never met Jack, but i hear he's a decent chap as well. I also liked Neverland, bought it based on Andy's recommendation. I'd probably agree too, that Night Ranger needs Jack, to tour with them, since it didnt' work too well without him. They just weren't that great a few weeks ago, when I saw them live. Now, back in '85 on the 7 wishes tour? killer! Blew Starship off the stage.

Hole in the Sun takes some getting used to, but it's really got some ass-kickers. None of the power ballads work very well, though. Seven was pretty good; Neverland was outstanding.

The 'Hof sure is huge in Deutschland.

Some of these people are so full of it. They think they are somehow so smart or clever. They worry about the behind the scenes stuff. Neal was wrong with Steve Perry, he is wrong now, but I want more. I don't ever want to see Journey end. Period. All those people who are wanting them to end can't and I mean can't be real fans. In video games people always try to say the machine doesn't matter - powerwise - it is the games. Well folks, here again it is the music not the politics and happenings in the background. I love JSS. I have nearly everthing he has ever done. NEARLY EVERYTHING, but I somewhat cringed when he was named the new singer. I just didn't think he was right to emulate Perry and yes that is what I want someone that comes close to emulating Steve Perry. Steve Perry was and is the greatest. No argument. However, Steve Augeri was really good in his own right. Arrival was freakin awesome. Generations was not quite so good, but had some excellent moments. Personally, I wouldn't mind hearing Dean sing some more songs because his two songs were among the best offerings on Generations. So I CAN deal with someone else. Journey will never be as significant with the masses again and likely wouldn't even if Steve Perry returned, but I would buy the album. I hope they indeed do find a copy cat. I love Geoff Tate, Lou Gramm, Mark/Marcie Free, etc., but I wouldn't want any one of them to be the next singer. I wouldn't mind if they held a contest like the INXS thing so long as it resulted in a singer that was as close as humanly possible to the greatest singer of all time, Steve Perry - in case you forget, as the next singer. I don't care if the next album had 15 songs and only a few were good. That would be a few more good songs I would get from the greatest melodic guitarist and band there ever was. That sounds good to me. I was sad, very sad when Journey split from Steve Perry, but I eventually said well now I will maybe get great music from Journey and Steve Perry - twice as much music. That did not quite pan out - Steve please make another album - but it did with Journey. It has only been two releases, but I am grateful. I will always be grateful. I hate Neal's attitude sometimes. That it is all business, but damn it he makes great music and is my favorite guitarist so I try to appreciate the music. So people lose the piousness and your faux pretentiousness and get back to purity. The love of the music. That is what I am about. So to imagine Journey ending for me is like the journey of life ending.

for many people here , its much larger than just another singer, or past
songs with perry,,
some people have an investment with this band,,
its folks having fun and getting to know what plans we were sold only to find
out what kind of people the band turned out to be..
its NOT business,, its betrayal,, SO right now, folks are just expressing this,,
its not about who is clever or smart,, just folks talking, venting, agreeing,
disagreeing , and just expressing..

To me it's all quite straightforward. If I continue to support Journey in the future they are getting away scot-free with their unforgiveable behaviour towards JSS. It's not enough to say "well o.k. that was shit what you did but I'll still buy your records and still go to your shows". The only way to let people of their sort know that they've screwed up is to give them as much bad publicity as possible and cut off the cash cow.

If in my real life, if someone I thought of as a friend treated another friend as badly as they have done JSS I would cut them out of my life, even if they hadn't done anything to me personally. I don't want those kind of people in my real life and nor do I want to be a fan of those kind of people in the bands I support.

So why is it different now than it was when Steve Perry left, or when Augeri left? Everybody was saying all the same shit, but nowhere near as many were "jumping overboard" and walking away from the band that held the soundtrack to their lives.
