I found this comment interesting. Steve Perry has been quoted a few times as saying he never uses the internet. More specifically, that he "doesn't even know how to turn a computer on." Kind of contradicts what he said just last week. Seems someone was either a) caught in a lie, or b) (MUCH more likely) has joined the cyber world. Here's the question and his answer:

Nora, I was merely suggesting that he has joined the cyber world. Nothing more. Moreover, maybe....just maybe, he's lurked on this site or BT since some of this garbage went down. You never know. Steve is the master of keeping a low profile. Plus, I think he'd love the trashing Neal and Jon are getting.

When he made those original statements about not having a computer, they were correct. He (like the rest of the planet) now has email. But he doesn't surf around the Internet reading all the fan forums as some try and convince themselves. People believe what they want to believe so are sure he's hanging out on their forum under an assumed name.

Not to prove or disprove Perry's claim of not being internet saavy (because how would I know), but I will point out that you don't have to know shit about shit to be able to check email if you have someone to set it up for you and tell you what button to push.

My mother can check her email and play Solitaire. Anything else, forget it.

I never read the "doesn't even know how to turn a computer on" thing (and I don't believe it for a minute), but I've read plenty of comments by him about checking email. So we know he can at least do that much.

Maybe that's why we never hear from him? He's an internet addict.

The comment about Steve not being on the internet was back in 1998 or 99, was posted on Fan Asylum, and was written as a deterrent to those who were "Perry impersonators" on the web. I should know, I was fooled by one. Spontaneous combustion is not good enough for that jerk.

Thanks Lora. One thing that is certain, even more certain than the sun coming up tomorrow, is that I believe what YOU have to say. Thanks for the clarification. I figured that might be the case. Like I said, I figured it was MUCH more likely that he joined the cyber world. Cool to know.

I remember watching him in an interview when that baseball team wanted to use DSB and wanted him to be there for luck. He said he found out about it in his email. So he has had email at least since before that. So I guess he must have said that before then. And yeah, Steve Perry has the time to read all the mess we write. hehehehehe That's just silly!
