A few thoughts on reality...

Can't help but laugh the people on here stating: "I am done with Journey". If you done with Journey, you were never a fan to begin with..plain and simple.
When did the band ever lie to me? Never, I was never lied to as a fan or any statement from Journey.
Have we been left in limbo? Fuck yes...But come on...these guys are human...its a band....bands change and change is a part of life. Deal or go talk to a shrink or post on here lol
Are we all just feeling bla, po, or even heart broken at what has transpired?: Yes, but we will get over it..If ya can't get over in time of what happened, um you need to get out more!
Will we all go out and buy Journey's next CD: Yes
Will we give our friend Jeremey the chance he deserves: Yup sure will
Will we all buy new JSS music when it comes out: Hell yes
Will we all be at the next Journey concert in our area: Yes!!

You couldn't pay me to attend another Journey concert. I would love to support Jeremey, but not if I have to support the others. Nobody treats people like that. I was brought up better than that. Stupid business practices will bite you in the ass every time.

Not true. It's not like these guys are my child and I have to stand by them no matter what. I still love the classic music and will continue to listen/watch my classic era cds/dvds, but I won't be supporting the band any longer, their behaviour has left a nasty taste in my mouth.

Nothing to get over, I don't support people I don't respect........it's really as simple as that.

You are partially correct. I will go see them if they come around, but I won't promote them within my circle.....and I hate to tell ya, but if they are hiring a tribute singer they aren't interested in creating a new album.

Wrong on everything you said...
I can assure you that I am not just speaking
for myself but for many of the other fans in here...
I am speaking as a TRUE Journey fan...
but there are many differnet types of fans.
I happen to be of the category that likes to
see growth and hear something fresh and new.
As much as I love the classics that drew me to this band when
I was 10 years old, I crave new and better things from this band.
Especially when it looks like they were ALL getting really fired up
about this new line-up and what they could do with it.
Some of us accepted Jeff unconditionally because of
his reume, his inter-play in here and because we felt
that Mr Augeri's time in the band had run its course.
We knew Perry wasn't an option and weren't ready for these
guys to go away yet.
So now Jeff gets fired, flat out, and all those hopes have been crushed.
Not only does the unexpected suddenness of this leave a bad tatste in my mouth
but the way it has gone down, with all the lies and deceptions, has left
a lot of us feeling cheated, yet again, and burned.
And for what? So the band can sit back and keep milking the classics
with someone that is as close to Perry as possible; nothing new and fresh.
Why keep hope alive or want to support a band
that doesn't seem to care that much for its die-hard fans?
How many times should I have to keep shelling out $$$
to hear the same old material over and over and over again???
Guess what? I have the GH DVD, I have the F&B VHS, I have the Houston DVD...
I have all the albums, most of them still on vinyl; I can re-live the past anytime I want to.
It's not that Jeff is the "Golden Boy" in here.
Yes, he does have a HUGE following here but it goes beyond just that.
It boils down to long-time fans finally getting fed up with all the
lies and deception and greed of this band and finally deciding to say,
"Enough is enough, guys. You've gone too far this time."
BTW, the only way this band would ever get my support again,
whether it be by $$$ or word-of-mouth, is if Perry came back for
a one-off album and tour.
And THAT would only be to hear Perry sing again and
to be able to let my 7 yo daughter, Bella, see Perry LIVE.
But we all know that will never happen anyway...

Saw Perry-Augeri not up to those standards when I saw him, so I never went back. Saw Jeff and he was so good,I would go again. Now ,nothing could make me get my wallet out .

I can't stand people assuming they know what other people think and feel.
Thats judging boy, and intolerable.
Consider the fact that you don't know everything about everyone like you so casually assume and go away.

Your right, its downright wrong to assume (ass out of you and me...maybe..probably...even most likely)....but this is an assumption I am going to stick with. Why? This band has touched everyone in here one way or another. Curiosity is going to get the best of people so we will want to see how this all plays out regardless of personal feelings directed at band members.
And sorry, no, I am not going away boohooo wa!

So, what you are saying is that none of us can judge NS, JC, or JSS, because we can't assume that we know what they think & feel.
Sure are a lot of people on this forum that assume to know everything about everyone in Journey, and are making judgements constantly. Isn't that intolerable?
Do we really know what the guys think and feel?
Please don't quote press releases and interviews.
We all know that's just a bunch of crafted & coated BS.

Tribute singer is a bad idea. They need someone that can sing the songs like SP and SA did. Kevin Chalfant has always been original. He just happens to sound like Steve Perry. It must be hard for an original singer to have similar vocal characteristics of other famous singers. He just released a 13 song Journey tribute CD. He told me was thinking about starting a Journey tribute band as well. He will probably start being labeled as a SP clone or wannabe now. If Journey wants to stay with the familiar and classic sound, he would be a good fit, in my opinion. Kevin was slated to be their next lead singer in the 90's until Steve Perry decided to reunite and record Trial By Fire. Hmmm. Great timing there Steve Perry.

Yeah I'm pretty sure thats just a big pile of WRONG. I can assure you that if they ever put out any new material (NOT HAPPENING!) I will most certainly not buy it. I will most certainly not buy tickets to any concerts. No, buddy, once again you're coming in here acting like a big shit not realizing that some people actually have ties in with the band personally and aren't putting up with the bullshit.
I'm sorry that you think you're so gifted with insight. It must be terrible.

Good point. Some people make assumptions about those guys and they don't know anything beyond what they're told by a press release or a loony poster or two.
If you're attacking me personally for doing that, I'd ask you if you know me and how I'm involved in the situation. Then when you tell me you don't, because you most certainly do not, I'd kindly ask you to point your frustration elsewhere.

No. As I have stated in the past.
Augeri was a shaky deal to begin with and by the time of my third Augeri-fronted concert it had become a rerun of the previous two shows. Generations added to the slippery slope, tape-gate gave it momentum and the dumping of JSS (which it had taken some time to win me over there) sealed it.
I am not going back to a Journey concert or purchase any new Journey material again unless Steve Perry and the rest of the "classic lineup" are a part of the project. We're too far off from the original for me to spend my cash on this.

Kevin is good, sounds like Perry, but doesnt have Perry's range from the era those songs were sung. Sorry, still a "no".

Exactly, you are supporting the others if you support the new singer, and 'support' means many things.
I don't get it, so many are saying that "Journey' is this and that, yet wishing whoever gets the gig, good luck. With what we know, it will only turn to shit for whoever gets the gig, but if it's to get some money until shit hits, then so be it.
After what has been said here, I don't understand why anyone would attempt to wish a new singer good luck and think it's going to turn out that way for them. Why anyone would tell someone good luck in joining people like this is beyong me.

Brillitant post man. Maybe they'll wait around for the Worlds Afart tour? But I bet that's only if we get Frank Sinatra to play the mandolin. Gah... looooooooonies!

Since they're only going legacy stuff now, that's where my spending and money is: in the past.
I have all the Journey songs and CDs I need, so there's no need to buy anything new, whether CDs or concert tickets. For me, I had always said (years and years ago) that I regretted not seeing Journey in concert. I also wanted to hear new music. There are several songs off Arrival that I liked: Higher Place, All the Things, Live and Breathe in particular; and a couple off Generations that I liked: The Place in Your Heart, Faith in the Heartland and (yes) Butterfly (She Flies Alone). (The first of these -- TPIYH -- did get some radio airplay here in Ohio in autumn 2005.)
But I also said to myself: if Journey ever stops recording new music or uses a tribute-band singer, I'm outta here. By all appearances, they've chosen to do both, so no more of my time or money on Journey concerts etc. Will I continue to listen to Journey on mp3's, CDs, and radio? Absolutely. But I won't spend $500 on VIP tickets and whatnot. Not interested.
For the record, I hope Steve Augeri does get a little attention with any recordings and songwriting he might be working on, and I hope JSS puts all this poo behind him and blazes on to bigger and better things. I thought Journey with JSS would be a contemporary juggernaut (even though I also didn't think he "fit" perfectly well with Journey's legacy sound). I think dumping him the way they've done is ethically shitty and commercially stupid.

Sorry, but I disagree completely- and I do mean completely.
First off, at this point I need proof that the remaining members of Journey are, in fact, human. Their actions put this fundamental point into question.
I'm not heartbroken or crying in my beer, and I got over it in about 5 minutes to be honest.
-I will not buy Journey's next CD- because regardless of what the cover says, it won't really be a Journey CD
-Jeremy, Hugo, Michael Bolton, Robert Goulet, Cher, whomever Journey gets to sing for them, no, I don't care enough to give them a chance.
-I don't care for JSS that much- I'm sure he's a nice guy, but I'm not a fan.
-I will NOT be at the next Journey concert, because, quite simply, I'm not giving Neal Schon one more cent of my money. After the way Steve Augeri and JSS were treated, Schon gets nothing. So he'll be a few cents short when writing one of his 4 alimony checks or one of his 50 or so child support checks.
Now if Perry came back, out of nostalgia I'd go to the show- but only if someone else treats.
