IF being here was part of Jeff's demise, how will they handle Jeremey? They know he was on here quite a bit, and them and their management are also aware of how people here feel about them. Will they go against their own 'rules' and let him come back here to try and 'smooth over' the fanbase, or will he be strictly forbidden from communicating with us losers ever again?

Was being online with us supposedly part of the problem? I haven't heard about that.

So what do ya think? Do they TRY to smooth this place over, or hold Jeremey to one of the rules of employment I stated in another thread? :x

I'm not sure they WANT to do anything about this place. The guys are getting old and they will most likely only be touring for a few more years anyway. They can still tour and milk the money out of the nostalgia crowd.

The only thing is, they should start calling the band Journey & The Revolving Lead Singer Circus, with Neal and Jon playing their part as clowns.

Seems Jeremy already took the warning from a fan or two to vacate the premisis

Hmmm, I don't know what he may have done on here that could have upset them, but it wouldn't surprise me. It also wouldn't surprise me if Jeremey is warned away from getting to friendly with the fanbase. They might think Jeff's friendliness helped make him so popular and lord knows Neal and Jon aren't going to be friendly to increase their own popularity.

There is something to it.

I know I started seeing band biz that I was graciously allowed to be privvy to and kept to myself appearing online not from me and thinking..."hm. That can't be good."

Yea.
Great outcome those led to.
Fucking writing sessions (which Deano said were REALLY promising) ground to a screeching shrieking halt after details of them started detonating online.

I was just going to say that. Jeremy came in to defend a rumor, then took the advice and has been mum since. I'm wondering if the Journey management isnt like that movie "The Firm". Ha!

I never thought that JSS was giving out too much band info. He always seemed to be pretty cautious about what he would say. Updated us on what their plans might be, what songs they were rehearsing, etc. Certainly not any band DIRT that would be out of bounds in my mind, but then again, we are talking about Journey here. You know, the band that keeps things more under wrap than the old Soviet Union did.

Well now you know that the more we know about what they say they're doing the more pissed off we are when it turns out to be another damned lie. So of course they don't want us to know anything.

That's just good marketing - keep the fans interested and build the excitement. I can see how management would want to STOP that kind of stuff.

They have no clue what they lost by getting rid of Jeff.....none what-so-ever.

OK, look at the whole picture on this. A hiccup develops in the creative process (I knew about this) and before you knew it, 2-3 threads are blazing here titled "FUCK YOU, FRIGA!!!!!!" and "FRIGA SHOULD BE FIRED!!!!!!"

And you think that has no impact, it;s a just the band being overly secretive?

How is that any different from any other band that lets you know that they are entering the studio and recording a new album. Hell, some of these bands post regular updates about the progress of creating the CD. They don't seem to care about what a few (relative to the whole fan base) excitable fans post on some bulletin board. I really think their lack of openness has hurt them big time.

It's different in that Jeff did not make the details of the sessions public knowledge.

Do you mean that Jeff told someone off the record and they leaked it to this board?

Its always struck me that there are bands who are rooted to the past (Journey is an example) and those who see the 21st Century methods of communication as a God-send (Jeff is a good example of that). Five years ago we used to wait for the music mags to release what they thought were 'scoops' but which were, in all reality, leaks by management or bands or press agents about things they wished us to rush out and purchase (tickets, CDs or DVDs and the like) - its called media relations.

The Journey management team appeared to be rooted well and truly in the 20th Century and when the band toured the Uk and Europe there was virtually nil coverage - why? Probably because they felt that having 'sold out' (sic) there was no need. But the public - their customers - wanted to know what was going on. Maybe it was a financial rationale - why spend money when the tour is sold out? Or maybe it was a fear of increased exposure or maybe, just maybe, they simply wanted to keep a low profile because they knew what was in store for the short and medium-term future.

The dude just talked general stuff, like the night he posted his memories of singing the Sinatra song and posted a clip...he just replied in general terms to what was posted...I can't see any of it being a problem with the so called Management. What I could see as a possible problem is his friendship with Dean...Deans too clever for Journey and this might have scared them a little.

Fans are strange beings, if a person like the lead singer of Journey tells them something, no matter how trivial it may seem at the time (in confidence) it becomes distorted and what started out as a little titbit becomes a major scoop for the fan...glossed over. Christ, Jeff said this to me and on it goes

It's a difficult call to make, I have no problem with Jeff posting on here, it's a breath of fresh air for us little uns....but we should just enjoy the banter and leave it at that.

Jeremey won't stop posting on here after he's confirmed and so he shouldn't but let's face it, he never really let's rip like Jeff...he's too damn nice. Jeff's a bad ass rock star with an attitude (a good attitude)....that's how we like em

Can't we talk about something other than Journey now, it's fuckin' relentless and it's oh sooooooooo repetitive.

IMHO "IF" Jeffs interaction with the fans was in any way part of this scenario, I would think that it wasn't the interaction on the board that was an issue, it would probably have been the "partying" and getting tanked with the fans that created an issue. I can see where this could become a problem when you start babbling with your "drinking buddies". It's hard telling who might hear what and repeat it where.

Seems to me that someone has claimed that a certain band member other than Jeff has loose lips when he's been drinking and carrying on, and Deano overheard it, so why would it be a problem to the band if Jeff did? I'm sure there is plenty of info on the loose from other band members interaction with normal folk that could end up on here as well. It's not like we are hearing major dirt or anything from Jeff.
