i'll admit i've never heard anything off arrival,red13 or generations.i was thinking about buying a few cd's here soon and was wondering are they worth it? i've heard arrival had a couple good tunes but i haven't heard much about the others.

This is a tough one to answer.

There's some good stuff across Arrival, Red13 and Generations, but to me, none of it is Perry era Journey quality. I'd say it's more like Bad English with a Perry influenced vocalist. That's not a bad thing, it's just a question of comparisons. If you're going to get it, go into it without expectations of a continuation of the Perry era Journey legacy and you won't be disappointed. Shorter answer: if you liked Bad English, you'll like the Augeri era stuff.

ARRIVAL is by far the better of the 3 releases, imo.

Great production and some great material.

No, I wouldn't say "when I see you smile" approach. More like "forget me not" (first album) and "straight to your heart" (off the second album). If you have iTunes, you should be able to sample 30 second clips off Arrival and Generations there.

Arrival is by far the best of the 3

Red 13 is kind of experimental
Generations sounds like it was recorded in a bathroom

Generations is by far the best...but if I were you I'd keep the Journey experience pure and stick to the classics.

If you're willing to gamble just a few bucks, 'Arrival' is ususally dirt cheap on Amazon & Half.com

Generations sounds like a bootleg. Plus is has Friga, Ross, Fro singing on it.

I like TPIYH, Faith, and the 2 Deen tracks, but that's it.

Arrival is a top album. Opening track Higher Place kicks serious ass. Can't believe you've never bothered with this era...!

You can probably get them all used...they're worth a couple bucks. Shit, I've seen Arrival at used CD shops for only a couple bucks, it's worth that.

I downloaded them all, and then ended up getting all 3 on CD from lala.com in the past year.

I think there's stuff on all three worth listening to, but given that everything is available on the internets for free, there's no reason to ever pay $15 for a CD, it's just not worth it...but I'm sure you can find the Augeri albums really cheap used, if not at a local shop, then on Amazon or Half.com.

You're right AR - the Cain, Schon, Valory vocal tracks are pretty painful.

But TPIYH, FITH and Better Life are the finest moments of the Augeri era...for me any way. I only really like "I Got A Reason" on Arrival - and even that sounds like an outtake from TBF minus the righteous vocal track.

I think the production isn't too bad on Generations. It vaguely has a Frontiers vibe about it....and it shows off Augeri's voice better than the sterile production on Arrival did.

ARRIVAL is actualy one of my favorite CD'S. Love it.

Arrival is a VERY good CD. Red 13 doesn't sound like Journey at all to me, and Generations is hit and miss.

About like any other album, I like certain songs off each one. Red 13 is my least favorite. I thought most of Arrival was pretty good, and about 5 or 6 songs on Generations I like.

Arrival is the best of the three used quite a few of the songs at our wedding.

GEnerations has 3 tunes i really like TPIYH, FITH and Never too late by Deen. MY wife likes every G

'To Be Alive Again' is THE best song on 'Arrival', IMO...but I also love 'Higher Place', 'Signs Of Life', 'All The Things', 'Nothing Comes Close'...

I think that from "Remember Me" - Generations, there was one great album worth of material. My CD-R of that era has:

Remember Me - Higher Place - Signs of Life - All the Things - Livin' To Do - World Gone Wild - Nothin' Comes Close - To Be Alive Again - State of Grace - Walking Away from the Edge - Faith in the Heartland - The Place in your Heart - A Better Life - Better Together - Never Too Late

Arrival had the strongest material of Augeri's (short) era for my taste and "Higher Place" is one of my favorite songs from the entire Journey catalogue.

If you want the totally unbiased opinion of a confessed SotoLoco Perryloon who didn't like Augeri, here it is. The best songs on Generations(FITH, TPIYH, OOHW) are better than anything on Arrival, but Arrival is overall the best listening experience. There's nothing that I care for at all on Red 13. However, in order to enjoy these CD's I have to do as Story Teller advised you to do. Don't expect to hear the Journey that you heard when Perry was with them. They're not bad CDs, but not up to Perry/Journey quality at all.

Arrival is buy far the best ,although I really liked FITH {Faith In The Heartland}. If you want to hear hear some previous Augeri work buy the Tall Stories CD .It is still out there, it was released in 1991 around the same time Neal parted from Bad English and started Hardline. If you like Augeri you really like the Cd.

Start with Generations and work back to Arrival.
If only b/c Gens. might be the easiest to find retail right now (Wal Mart's got it for $9.99).

Augeri CDs are good. Buy them. Red 13 is not your typical Journey. You might want to avoid that one.
And yeah, the TALL STORIES CD is the best of the 4. Buy that first.

MOST CDs are not up to those standards. Doesn't make them bad CDs. Makes E/F that much more magical.
