I haven't purchased the remastered Journey/Steve Perry albums that were released awhile back, but listened to soundbytes on itunes (I was very bored today!) I thought the soundbytes sounded extraordinary! Now, we all know that the purchased music on itunes is not the perfect quality you would get on the actual CD, but if you were to purchase a remastered CD (set aside recent events) would it still be worth buying the CDs from iTunes as opposed to buying the actual physical CD?

Not sure about the CD verses download question, but don't buy from itunes if you can help it! At least find a download site that allows for a higher bitrate than 128.

A plug for the CDs though - they come with booklets full of photos! Not sure that's worth the extra dough for you, but I had to have them,

Another good thing about buying CD's is that you can rip them at as high of a bitrate as you want, and you'll always have the CD to rerip it if you ever need to.

Yeah most of the time what happens is that I buy the CD and wind up ripping the music so I can upload them to a drive at work so I can listen while I work..lol! I guess the biggest reason for me with digital downloads is that it's instant gratification so to speak. I don't have to get in my car, burn my gas and have to fight people in Walmart. Unfortunately for me, Walmart is the only place around here that I can buy CDs. Our freakin' music store in the mall shut down, and we have no Best Buy or Circuit City in town anymore. With that said, I often have to turn to the internet to buy the CDs I want, but then I have to wait for them to be shipped and so forth.

But I definitely agree about iTunes and sound quality. I haven't checked out Urge yet. I used to buy music from buymusic.com, but every now and then, I would have problems with the DRM and couldn't playback the track I had purchased. The rest of the online music download stores have crappy sound quality. I was impressed by the soundbytes of the remastered Journey releases, so that must mean that the actually remasters must have awesome sound quality.

Well I go with even less instant gratification, I order them from the internet. You can usually get them cheaper even shipped, plus you don't have to go anywhere, they come right to you.

Find the best price and order them. Then while you're waiting, download a song or two to tide you over. (Make sure you download songs from the remastered CDs. I don't think ALL of them were remastered - some were just repackaged with extra songs and booklets)

Then you can compare the two yourself and let us know!!

Exactly, and the remastered solo cds are definately worth it. Love the extra songs, like the fun....Can't Stop.
