Just walked back to bed a few minutes ago. Heard Steve Perry's voice on VH1. They are replaying the 100 Greatest 80's Songs right now. It was just before the commercial advertising them coming up. DSB of course.
Steve Perry's voice, always insane to hear, but even more so when you just come up on it by surprise.
That's all. bored. Journey coming up on VH1 soon if anyone wants a blast from the past.
The DAMN was just for walking in on Perry's voice on the tv.

plenty of ways to write Journey off, without writing Perry off too.

It's messed up, too. They hook you then they proceed to jack you around forever! Fucking musicians!

Ah, interesting what number one led into next on VH1. Jon can be annoying with the way he sings. Even a intoxicated Richie sounds better, and I don't mean that in a mean way. Always thought Richie was the better singer anyway.

The half hour version was on VH1 last night, the hour version is one MTV tonight, and the one and a half version will be on CMT tomorrow night.

See, it's weird. It's not that I don't like Jon, I just think Richie has a more pure voice. There has always been something slightly annoying to me about Jon, that has never allowed me to fully like him, but it's not that I don't...

No doubt eh! With as many times as I've seen that clip, the vocal talent that man oozes still amazes me everytime I see it.

You know, Perry was a GOD (see avatar) but doesn't it bother you guys that he kept Journey in limbo for like 10 years? I was SO mad at him for that... then, when he comes back, he yoinks them again...
Just like I'm mad at him now for not singing. C'mon Steve. We want to hear you man. Can't u just do a single every year? I could give a crap if you tour. In fact, I'd rather you didn't. But to hear NO new music from you... Ugh.
I remember that The Beatles used to do a Christmas Record for fanclub members every year. Perry should do that.
ONE song per year. It'd be cool.

You know, it really didn't bother me. I guess I was so busy being married and having my kids that I didn't pay attention to what was going on with Journey. Heck, I don't even remember how or when I heard that he wasn't with them anymore. It sucks that he's not still singing. But mad at him? Nah. Would I love to hear him sing again? Of course. I'd love nothing better than for him to sing again and shut up all the naysayers. LOL

I never really cared for that song that much either until I saw this performance.

Nope. I figure that was his personal business. He didn't, and doesn't, owe us anything. He gave us what still has us here talking about him today.
He did however owe it to himself to get right with himself. I'm happy for him that he did.

It works for me.
I love when SP's voice comes on unexpectedly. Yesterday I turned on the radio/CD player in the house (I just got one a few months ago for my birthday) & I was gonna put in a Glen Miller CD but the radio part was on, which I never listen to, and within a minute while I am trying to find the CD button "anyway you want it" came on. It was on KLOS and then after a while Uncle Joe comes on & says what songs just played & said something to the effect after he said Journey, "talk about mystery, there's a mystery."
