It's only the band we all loved. No problem. Happens everyday. I'm fucking over it already! Can you tell?

I believe that many of the posts in the last >2 weeks were saying just that. Karma's a bitch. The BOYS need to know this. They weren't man enough to keep their own site up through this, and continue to be so arrogant towards the people who made them all their money. And we're rightfully so, voicing our disdain for what's left of a once great band. Many of us let things slide on more than one occasion, and that's our fault in some way. Because they have taken us for granted, and assumed that because people in a certain place blindly supported them, that everyone else would too.

I really had to laugh at that...BT wasn't the only place that was 'blindly' supporting Journey. Fans on other forums also refused to see Journey's history of how they treated their fans...and followed the band into the abys. As for taking down their website, that is the only thing the band CAN control. I'm sure they assumed that it would go on and on and on in other forums.

Karma is already nailing Journey.
Look at how their die hard fans are turning against them.
Neal will kill himself trying to get Journey back to it's former glory by playing Holiday Inn and San Francisco based weenie roasts.

Don't get much more of a Karma slam than that.

Ain't that a bitch Neal? Serves you right.

The AugeriDriveByShooters were tared, feathered, buggy-whipped, and run out of Dodge on a greased rail as freaks for mentioning "karma" and its surefire effects to be during tapegate.

And Journey continued.

same thing man, they don't have a seperate catagory for "coliseum or stadium rock"

they call every little venue "arena" now. They filled ARENAS!

***The term arena is sometimes used as a synonym for a very large venue such as Pasadena's Rose Bowl, but such a facility is typically called a stadium. The use of one term over the other has mostly to do with the type of event.

Not here they don't call every place an arena. Growing up, there was plenty of Stadium Rock. They were called the SuperJams. Smaller places were shed's, or auditoriums.

By your definition, ANYONE these days can fill an arena. Not everyone could fill a 50,000+ seat Stadium, like a select few back in the 70's and 80's.

exactly, Perry was the man for sure, thanks for proving my point, back in the day he filled whatever venue they booked!
I saw him in stadiums, it was unbelievable! I believe he could still fill them!

the picture I posted says it all....

Here, Arenas are enclosed places to play basketball or hockey games, typically holding 10,000 to 30,000 people. Stadiums are places to play football and can be open or closed in typically holding between 40,000 and 100,000 people.

I'm not proving shit for you.

If people are calling a Stadium an arena, then they are very mistaken. YOU included. Get over yourself.

Thanks Rick. Finally someone with SOME common sense.

Arena rock
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Arena rock is a loosely defined style of rock music, often also called anthem rock or stadium rock, and the style of music is closely associated with "corporate rock" and album-oriented rock. Arena rock is usually medium hard rock, but lacks the edginess or rage often inherent in heavy metal. Hair metal is also included in arena rock, and many so-called "arena rock" stations in fact play mostly hair metal. Simple rhythms, acoustic/electric guitar interplay, and keyboards define the instrumental sound, and vocally the music is far closer to mainstream pop than most hard rock or metal.
In the 1960s, the tremendous popularity of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones led to the use of larger venues to accommodate audiences. The Beatles' 1965 appearance at New York City's Shea Stadium is often cited as the first "arena rock" concert. By the 1970s, the ability to perform for huge crowds in sports arenas and stadiums became a prerequisite for rock stardom.
While many groups performed in massive venues while on tour, the term "arena rock" usually refers to 1970s and 1980s hard rock groups that occupied a middle ground between the heavy metal sound and the softer adult oriented sounds of country rock and the singer-songwriters of the decade. Bands such as Cheap Trick, Heart, Boston, Foreigner, Journey, Kansas, Queen, Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Styx, Survivor, and performers such as Meat Loaf, Bryan Adams, Eddie Money and Peter Frampton directed their appeal to a young white American audience who favored bombastic, anthemic rock.
The rise of MTV and new wave music adversely affected many of these groups, but some continued to be successful in the 1980s. Hair metal bands such as Twisted Sister, Bon Jovi and Def Leppard, in retrospect, are essentially a continuation of this style and sound. Indeed, even some heavy metal acts were able to break into the fold such as Metallica with their extensive stadium tour in 1992. This marked a change from the band's initial desire to shun "mass market" practices, but showed that as the popularity of a group increases, so too must the venue at which it performs. However, "arena rock" retains much of its pejorative meaning, as some popular alternative rock groups of the 1990s such as Stone Temple Pilots were tagged with this label by dismissive critics. In the early 2000s, Creed was similarly labeled.

Arena

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An arena is an enclosed area, often circular or oval-shaped, designed to showcase theater, musical performances, or sporting events. It is composed of a large open space surrounded on most or all sides by tiered seating for spectators. The key feature of an arena is that the event space is the lowest point, allowing for maximum visibility. Usually, an arena is designed to accommodate a fairly large number of spectators.

The term arena is sometimes used as a synonym for a very large venue such as Pasadena's Rose Bowl, but such a facility is typically called a stadium.

That's the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, which holds over 100,000 people. You notice they cut off one end of it, but also opened up the field. My guess, 80,000 people for this show.

Yep,I can confirm the 80.000 figure,Mike Hausmann told me the story of that show.He was there and it was MAJESTIC.
Journey worked that stadium to death. 8)

He also said the sound-check was really cool, they came out in casual clothes, did a couple songs, dissapeared in their dressing rooms where no one was allowed, and came out later for the show all puffed up looking like true rock stars.A perfect show, just like all of them were back then.

Wish I could've seen that...I can only imagine the beauty of it all.
