OFFICIAL JSS PRESS RELEASE

July 7, 2006, Jeff Scott Soto began a new chapter in his life as lead singer for mega legends Journey. June 11, 2007, not even a year later, that chapter ended. Says Jeff "I was looking forward to a long, prosperous future with these guys but it seems they wanted something different than I brought to the table. No love lost though, they know what's best for the preservation of their legacy. I wish them all the best but now it's time to continue working on my own path again".

Jeff has just completed a European farewell tour with longtime bandmates Talisman & is set to continue where he left off on the new solo album he was creating before the Journey call. "A lot of folks are sad Talisman is over but perhaps we may extend the idea of saying goodbye a bit although I'm really looking forward to unleashing the new JSS sound to the world sooner than later".

Jeff has been writing with Swedish artist/producer/writer Paulo Mendonça for the past year as well as up & coming singer/writer Sam Grow on the new material. "Paulo writes the way I dream of my music sounding, everything he touches gold to me. Sam is new on the scene, a kid I hear loads of potential in his own material which I also hear collaborating on my own. It's a new, contemporary, soulful, rock, groove thing with a lot of melody!". The new album should be completed before the end of the year but no release date or label has been announced yet. Sounds can be heard on www.myspace.com/sewtoe as well as the many other aspects of Jeff's career can be found at www.jeffscottsoto.com. "Thanks for all the newfound support & loyalty out there, I have made MANY new friends & fans the past year & I hope to bring you along for the next ride!".

I knew Jeff wouldn't divulge too much but I was hoping for a bit more info. Oh well...

As much as I had hoped for that as well- I knew he wouldn't

Jeff's too classy to stoop to that level. 8)

Exactly - I don't think he needs to say anymore.

Proves he's bigger than them.

Statement is a closure, time to move on at last.

I guarantee we will be hearing more from Jeff in the next year than we will from Journey.

I agree - but equally let's not give Cain and Schon a battering for their 'secretive' and 'dishonest' press release either.

I think there is a saying that goes 'a man of few words speaks volumes', how true this is. :)

So happy and excited for Jeff!! If you haven't done so yet, check out Sam Grow's Myspace page. I think he and Jeff could do great things together as artists. And yes, it was nice to see Jeff take the high road where Journey was concerned, but I guess he figured we as fans did enough fuming and venting for him where that's concerned. On to bigger and brighter things, and I couldn't be more thrilled for him!!!

Well, this is business...I really didn't expect this press release to be earth shattering, but at least it sounded much more honest than Journey's.
Guess the difference is about class and respecting your fans. :) Nicely done,Jeff.

The most interesting part is definitely this one:

A lot of folks are sad Talisman is over but perhaps we may extend the idea of saying goodbye a bit although I'm really looking forward to unleashing the new JSS sound to the world sooner than later.

I am ALL ears, whether it's going to be Talisman or JSS solo! 8)

lol I saw a emotion with it - couldn't understand what it meant. Looked it up online - there are a lot of pics out there of this - and I have no clue why. :) I'm not sure if it is some hidden meaning.. so I decided to stick it up there :) lol

Don't forget about Paulo Mendonça . He is a perfect songwritter for Jeff. Almost as good as Marcel .

The "no love lost" comment speaks volumes to me.

Jeff will come out of this better off.
Probably already has. He's got a few album sales royalties to come, anyway, because I bet I'm not the only new fan to have just spent some money @ Amazon. :D

He's got me. Picked me up when someone else let me go as a fan.

Jeff's gonna cost me a bunch of money, checking out all of the back catalogue.

That's two of us.
I know there's a load more.
He wowed the UK audiences this Spring when he performed with "they who shall not be mentioned."

Thinking about the situation, after the initial anger has died down a little, what seemed like a bad thing, will probably turn out to be better for him than staying with them.
He has a chance to fly now.
Maybe he would have been held back?
[their behaviour still stinks, of course.]

This is the BEST news!!!!

join me in the poorhouse, wc. The music is FANTASTIC in here!!!

my comments from his blog entry this morning.....

GirlLikeYou

Wow, Jeff. As the Talisman dvd plays in the background as I type, I KNOW that whatever you do and wherever your music takes US, it will be amazing. (I am still holding out for Talisman now and then, however!)

Like I said in OKC last year, LITT is one of the best CDs I have ever owned. So I am sure that your solo work will far surpass any 'legacy' building efforts. You are a HUGE talent, presence, force--what is the word??--that demands the attention of any and all within earshot.

Life is a JOURNEY--not a destination! All of us are on a journey as we wind our way through this life! Every exit, every avenue, every rest stop propels us forward. Lord let us not be stopped or delayed! What lies ahead? The possibilities are endless! Thank goodness!

I remain, forever and always, your soul sistah,
Debbie

Yep, and I'm also going to drop a few coins picking up his back catalog while we wait for that new CD.

good call, susie! That thought has always been in the back of my mind!!

ya know, I never really saw the whole Jeff with Journey thing anyway. (yea, I said Jeff with Journey--not Jeff IN Journey) I saw it with my own eyes (when i had them open, that is :D) but I couldn't see beyond the present. isn't that weird??

Hell you know it has too screw with his mind to a degree, but best he cAN DO IS CONSUME HIMSelF IN OTHER PROJECTS and save what good memories he had with his brief stint with Journey. It ended shitty but I am sure he has great memories in that short time, one would be meeting me in Vegas for a short few words, I am sure he will treasure that a lifetime.
You can tell alot about a person on first impressions and he is somebody I would like to hang with. Anybody that takes the time to come hang out with fans and not have a look like it is painful is friggin A in my book !!

He can chalk this up to life experience of what knifes to look for in the future that may be aiming at his back and learn to duck, dodge, duck and roll.

To only good things ahead for Jeff !

Bingo. Jumped right off the page.
Appears innocuous in this context but the normal context in which you see that phrase is between parties who are not exchanging Christmas cards.

Probly the closest he could come to going "I'm PISSED AT THSE GUYS!!!!" without saying it.

Absolutely.
To me it means "they are not worth the emotion." "Not worth the bother."
Brian May couldn't have written that any better.

I focused on that one right away too. I just didn't know if Jeff really meant it the way I was hoping he did. I've never really understood how the words of the phrase fit the most common use of it, but I've always heard it used to mean two people or parties that can't stand each other.
