Might be a good idea but if my information is correct, Jeff is forming his own band and doing the solo thing. That's what I've been told.

Youve been told the truth,Jeff, but you should know by now that Jeff can be involved with many other bands besides his own!!

I thought I heard right. I know Jeff keeps himself busy with a lot of different stuff but that might hurt him at some point down the line. If he gains a reputation as a journeyman singer (no pun intended) Bands might hesitate to grab him up. Ultimately their loss of a great vocalist but that could be the case.

I have a feeling that Brian May might help Jeff a little.
Maybe give him a support slot when Queen & Paul Rodgers perform again.
Or help him out some other way. I just have a gut feeling. Maybe I'm wrong.

My friend Lance King sent them a few originals as well as him singing their stuff. We'll see what happens

And this is Andre's response to the question:

First of all : we didn’t pick “the guy” yet, a few candidates (“famous”, “less famous” as well as “completely unknown” characters ) are flying to Copenhagen – as we speak - on a “try out basis”. Now to the “announcement” : no, we’re not keeping quiet because we’d like to make it all appear “mysterious” or “top secret” in any way but purely out of courtesy to “the guy” - there could be some contractual/ethical/personal obligations to start with… and this other thing : the second we’ll announce our new singer (let’s say in a couple of weeks) a lot of people will immediately go and check his previous works out and – as usual – will write all over “the net” just how much “he’s a perfect choice” or “no way, I’m so disappointed” kind of things. Whoever it might be, the guy deserves a fair chance to convince our fans that he’s the right one – by appearing on this site (probably around September), with soundclips of him actually singing our new songs… THAN everybody can make up their mind and go ahead voicing their opinions in any way they want… but the guy will be judged by this particular product, not an album he recorded a few years back or whatever. So let it go – our schedule is tight enough, you won’t have to wait for several months to discover “who he is”… he’ll be here : with pictures, bio and soundclips to prove that he’s a worthy candidate to help us write “a new chapter” in RH´s history.

PS. I’d like to thank you all for suggesting “potential candidates” (in the last couple of months on this board) – we took a good look at almost all of them and would like you to know that we appreciate your concerns and your wish to help.

I guess it was the "probably September" that threw me thinking they had someone. It has crossed my mind that what if John West is auditioning for JRNY and JSS is auditioning for RH...nah, that would be too bizarre.

bizarre? nah

lemme tell you , bandwhoring, is pretty normal and it has been for many years...
(As an example,,, Marcel Jacob,, jammed with Yngwie,, then went to Europe, while Europe's bass player jammed with Yngwie,, then Marcel went back to Yngwie,, then from Yngwie to John Norum(from Europe)'s solot project then to Talisman with Yngwie's singer Goran Erdman, who was replaced by another Yngwie singer, Jeff Scott Soto ! )

It does seem pretty common...and, confusing. I just thought it would be weird that two bands (out of three) that I have greater interest in are currently without lead singers. It's also kinda weird that I only knew of RH because of John West (when Andrew posted his interview about his intial audition for JRNY in '98). I really loved John West's voice with RH & now they are going to have yet another singer - I think this makes the fourth one for them! I'm rather partial to JW's voice & style (from the DVD), so might not be interested in hearing the next singer.

John West is a great singer but D.C. Cooper is the best that band has had. Fortunately, Cooper has been doing some great stuff with Silent Force. I'll definitely be interested in hearing who they select. Anyway, Royal Hunt can get away with having different singers, since Andre Andersen is the driving force in that band.

I have listened to some on youtube of D.C. and maybe the other singer, Henrik?? I wasn't captured, but that's not to say he isn't great. It's always much more than the voice for me...it's the voice, of course, but the emotion, the sincerity, the confidence the singer has and something you can't quite put your finger on. I understand it is different for everyone - just look at JRNY.

Yes, Andre does seem to be the driving force - there have been a few different drummers & bass players, too.
