This maybe a repost... but I found this to be interesting...

http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/mus ... ourney.htm

Who would have thought they would create a Tribute to Journey CD with all those different artists...

Thanks for the link. Interesting. No metal tribute to Journey is complete without Mickey Thomas singing DSB and Tommy Shaw singing Open Arms.

Nice! At least we know that there's potential for at least 13 new lead vocalist incarnations.

This is exactly why I lost real interest in the band so long ago. There was already a suck-ass tribute CD out a few years back. With all of the cover bands out there now (there was another one playing at a local park this past Sunday - again the lead singer looking like a Legends In Concert Perry clone), and with Kevin Chalfant (a former contender for the lead spot) doing his own tribute....the real deal gets lost in the wash. Especially when you're doing more shuffling around of your front man than a poker dealer does in Vegas.

At this point, their best bet would be a Howdy Doody-like puppet of Perry, singing along to the Greatest Hits CD.

 I need to catch up on Drew's reviews. You can feel his pain in the review of the TNT album. Ouch!

Being a big fan of Shy, I was looking forward to hearing Tony on that one. I see that Drew LOVES the new Scorps and Night Ranger. Gotta pick those two up.

The New Journey Tribute w/ Chalfant is crap. The singing is alright, but the music and arrangements are a joke. The music is weak, and tinny.

Wouldn't it be great if JSS put out a tribute Cd?

That's what he should do, and have it OUTSELL ANYTHING Journey releases......

Oh yeah, I'm sure he's on the horn right now suggesting that to his manager.

Seriously, is this the kind of crap u people said at BT? Don't answer. I already know. I browsed that shithole every once in a while. Now I really know why I avoided that place like the plague. Fucking hell.

OK....you got me again.....goofing with me in one thread, dissing me in another....

You have been blasting Journey for over two weeks, while takng up for Jeff..... then when someone offers a funny suggestion, you blast him.

You should visit one of my other boards, they way you blast BTers, for which *I* haven't been a member for 4 years, they blast you MRers over there....

I feel like in a Bipolars Anonymous seminar.......

I read what happened to the guy....my point was: Wouldn't it be poetic justice if he released a CD of J-tunes, and it was a hit....

Because the guys IN Journey said he wasn't the 'right fit' for Journey......

Man, it is so elementary....must I hold your hand and walk you thru it? :D

No thanks. Do I need to walk u thru it (I'm not holding ur sweaty palms tho)? Do u honestly think Jeff wants to sing a Journey song anytime soon? Do u think the divas would give him the rights? THINK before u post. Or give up the Nyquil :-)

Which is exactly what I think Steve was referring to in that Newsweek interview when he said the band had been touring with different singers and he could too if he wanted to, but he wouldn't because he wanted to maintain the integrity.

I sometimes wonder...if Herbie Herbert were still involved with the band, would any of these tribute CD's ever see the light of day?

Love him or hate him, he was a smart business man who always had enough integrity to keep his product top-notch. Read up on the deal he orchestrated for their Greatest Hits package. He made sure that it was their baby...not something put out half-assed by the record company alone (as most Greatest Hits packages are handled). Their music almost never appeared on any manufactured "as seen on tv" compilation CDs. If you wanted it, you went to the source and get the real deal.
