Check out this pic from Hear N Aid...He is in the front row next to Ronnie James Dio and looks like he is a good 4 inches taller than RJD...

That pic looks totally photoshopped - like they took individual pics and put them all together.
Maybe that's why RJD's size looks disproportionate. Look at the lighting/skin tones.
It doesn't look like any of them were even in the same room.

I hadn't noticed, but now that you mention it... If you look at Neal's face, the light is coming from a different angle than DuBrow's or Halford's.

Photoshopped or not Neal's still a midget.

Plus if you look really close you can see corresponding feet and proper shadows. Its probably real... but just so retro looking with all the clothes/hair/midgies that it give the appearance of faux.

It is real. This was done back in the 80s. Did they even have the technology to fix up photos like that? I don't think so.

Actually they did - there's that picture that's floating around of the inside of an airplane with the Journey guys standing in it which isn't real... you can tell they were dropped into a different background. It wasn't done the same way it's done now obviously, but it was still done.

shorter and smaller dudes/dudettes look cooler holding and playing a guitar than taller or "bigger" folks..

Me, either. It got old a long time ago. I just thought it was interesting to show how tall, or short, in comparison he was to the other guys in that photo. If he is 5'6", I don't personally think it's all that short.

Dio is a gnome, for sure...one of the few guys in the business I've met who I actually had to look DOWN on to look in the eye...
