I can only say WTF was he doing on stage. He should have been resting by this time. Did piano fairy and napoleon wammybar make him do it ? I feel really bad for the guy...

That clip was HORRIBLE! And what the hell was Neal wearing? Maybe he and Steve had the same taylor for the tour. Showing off the Man-tits!

This was pretty tough to listen to. I hope he is doing better.

Hearing anything he has out in the future would be great.

I was there, sixth row, right side. It was so clear he was having such trouble to everybody up close (though my brother on the lawn said he thought it was great - was he drunk?). Deen must have sang half the lyrics to *every* song that night (except he did alright on the opening "Faith in the Heartland." I just felt so embarrassed for him that night, I can only imagine what he was feeling like. But I cheered on, I figured it was just an off night. Little did I know...
I just don't understand why they went on that night, really. Why not have asked Deen to sing everything or just cancel? I don't really have an opinion on the whole "tapegate" thing - but I've always thought if he WAS using recorded vocals, why in hell didn't they pull them out THAT night?

They had been busted on it and couldn't use them anymore. That's why when people ask if they used tapes on the Def Leppard tour, they can say no, because they didn't. They used them on the 2005 tour.

He would have suffered more that night if he didn't have tinnitis.

I saw him on June 26 of that year, 1 week before this clip and he was just as bad...kept using his inhaler and leaning on the piano and sharing vocals with Deen who did most of them...how very sad...he should have known better than to go on stage in that condition...he is lucky that he can even speak or sing at..

Hurts my throat to listen.
I actually didn't think he would sound this good with a paralyzed vocal cord.
Man, that guy could (can) sing.

They should have waited for Perry to be ready to tour. Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland waited for Sting to be ready, and look what happened. I just saw The Police three times in the last month - in Vegas, Dodger's Stadium in L.A., and in Saint Louis. There were over 45,000 people at the L.A. show, and for good reason. These guys are smokin! Journey could have done this too... but Neal and Jon had to sellout. What a shame. What could have been is probably ruined now. Sure, Steve Perry may have had to get the guys to tune down a half step for one last killer stadium tour, but at least it would have been The Voice instead of a shredded imitation.

i dont sing , so i was wondering if it is really
painful to sing in that condition,, does it just
end in sort of a cough , or is it like a sore throat??

It's all about the money and that's all it's been about for years. Obviously.
Journey.. Happy touring without your core fans behind you as they always have been.
Enjoy the money, as you've lost your heart, you're integrity, your legacy and your soul.

I remember when Neal and Jon first made the decision to replace Steve Perry. I was a member of the Journey website forum at the time, and I voiced my disapproval about their decision. In a few short days I was banned from the forum - just because I disagreed.
