Augeri was EXCELLENT on this one.
Great find.
Thanx!

Get your ears cleaned out. Augeri sounded great there.

"So off-key?" Wow. This performance is incredible and shows that SA was once a great singer. You do realize that even people like Steve Perry have sang slightly flat in a live setting before? God forbid.
Everyone has off days, and singers are most prone to it due to the wide variety of health issues that can effect your voice. I'm sure if Youtube had been around for the last 35 some years, there'd be plenty of clips available where bands don't even sound like a cohesive unit because they're too blasted, high, or just plain out having an off day. I love when people post a Youtube clip of a bad performance as evidence that a band or performer is awful based on an off night. The advent of Youtube and easier bootlegging methods makes this kind of judgment a dime a dozen nowadays. BTW, I'm not trying to say that Augeri's voice wasn't shot last year or whatever else, but gimme a break... he and Deen sound incredible on this.

I think you're agreeing with me but I'm a little confused... are you referring to the thread starter or Journey2Infinity?

I actually liked the way he did this way better than anything I heard from 2001 onwards. It was not anything like the Perry-impersonation he tried after that. Makes me wonder if that was ever his decision or something the other 2 idiots forced on him.
He's not off-key there. He just changes the way he sings the notes (something Perry was a master of live & why he always sounded so fantastic). That would have done Augeri some justice over the years & maybe preserved his voice.
Sadly I can hear a very slight strain at the high notes even at that point tho. Hearing some of his TS stuff & the direction they were going in w/demos when they quit & now hearing this, I just wish he'd been allowed to put more of "him" into his Journey-time. Instead of doing the dirty dozen as close as possible to the GH album nite after nite after nite.
Damn Friga & Fro really are idiots.
