FUCKERS, ALL OF YOU!!

I can't decide between cursing at you or thanking you, for opening my eyes in this sour way.

I'm not the kind of fan that collects posters, shirts or autographs. Or the kind that doesn't miss several shows from the same tour either.

Still, Journey USED to be my favorite band, until I started reading all the deception and dismay Neal and Jon have caused to their fans.

I didn't like the SA--->JSS thing at all, to the point of not accepting Jeff as a "good replacement" for Journey. I accepted SA in the first place 'cause I thought Steve Perry betrayed the band and all of us fans by not wanting to put an end to his hip problem and tour for TBF.

But not even then I saw the things from this perspective.

Now, things are like this (for me):

1.- Neal and Jon are backstabbing assholes and ego freaks who treat their fans like shit and work their singers like mules.

2.- SA was kicked out of the band, instead of given a couple of weeks (maybe more, WELL DESERVED) to fully recover.

3.- JSS was TOO MUCH of a frontman for Journey. Yup, let's face it: Neither Neal, Jon or Ross are precisely "fireballs" anymore. So they fired him, maybe 'cause Neal didn't want his thunder stolen.

4.- Neal has no neck and Jon's probably gay. Did I mention that they're backstabbing assholes?

Thanks a fucking million, MR! Image

Agree with everything except the Augeri piece. He had trouble for 4-5 years. Waiting 2 weeks or 2 months was not going to help him. He sounded weak and out of key in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006. Tapes Tapes Tapes. Not exactly a live treasure.

As stated, I saw SA in '01, '02 and '03, and he RULED. No tapes. No Deen (except for backing vocals, of course). :)

You're wrong. He used tapes in late 2002, and fairly regularly on certain songs in 2003. There is a reason the Warfield never was released. Same for Dallas. The vocals were shit.

I've said it before and I'll say it here again. It's time to let SA off the hook. Not totally but I think we all now know that he wasn't the lone gunman in the school book depository. There were at least two more lippers in the grassy knoll helping him pull this off. I honestly think he may not have been given any option in the matter, "Tapes or your fired" Tough choice for a guy with a family. Again time to back off the guy a little bit. IMO

I agree with you.

Still, that wasn't the point of the thread. :)

Want to bet? I have the tapes of Phoenix in 2000 where he was live. I have Phoenix and Tucson in 2002 where he got help. Trust me, the decline had started.

May not have been the point of the thread but that's where it was headed just between you and Deano discussing tapes no tapes.

Do you have that???

I MUST have that one!! We were the loud, drunk mexicans screaming on the acoustic set. Jon dedicated "La raza del Sol" to us.

What can I do to get it? :)

Not gonna get in to it with you dude. I'll just say this - You're absolutely right and that wasn't where the thread was gonna get to. You go right ahead and keep poking Deano with a stick telling him it didn't happen and I'll just sit here mouth shut and piss myself laughing when he smokes your ass. Ok. Fair enough. My apologies for stepping inside your thread.

Not to question you, but if Augeri used tapes in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 as you state, wouldn't he have sounded great and in tune to the audience rather than "weak and out of key"? I haven't seen all of the details on the tape thing, did the band ever admit to this allegation?

If you consider canning the guy and calling the first guy on Neal's speed dial admitting it? Then yes

Hey I backed the "underdog" from day 1 (Augeri), sure he was a little but rough but I thought he
would develop & improve over time (now that he was doing music FULL TIME).

But he got worse & worse & worse over the years, to the point of tapes. As Deano pointed out,
maybe the vocal coach they got for him was shit. But in my opinion, Augeri was never in that
league to pull it off.

Yeah.....he could barely fill Danny Vaughn's shoes.....I take that back. He couldn't fill Danny's shoes.

Chief, when you get ready to cut the slack for Augeri, just ask yourself if Perry or Soto would have knuckled under.

Augeri was never a strong enough vocalist for Journey. I knew that from the 2001 Free Per View. They should never have hired him, but they did. They did it because they didn't want a strong vocalist. They wanted someone to sing the songs who could hit the notes and blend into the background so Neal could be the "Star of the Show".

I don't know what kind of contract Augeri signed, but no one can convince me that he couldn't have legally gotten out of it when his vocal health was in danger. If he hadn't made enough money to support his family by then he's no better at managing his money that Neal is.

THANK YOU. Precisely! Tell me an attorney couldn't find a way to see to it that he didn't have to sing or sing-a-long to the CD. He made a choice, plain & simple.

Bitch, I did not know this until last year. Glad you had a laugh on me. He had help sparingly in 02, 03 and more in 04 and all of it in 05/06.

Don't fuck with me Twat, I am not taking your shit again.

OhSherri,

The point isn't whether or not Perry or Soto would have Knuckled under, nor is it about your opinion of whether or not SA was the right guy for the job. What I'm saying is if you happy assholes wanna go on believing that SA pulled off the tapegate shit all by his lonesome and hold him 100% accountable for it then you are dumber than I ever gave you credit for. Yes he deserves some of the blame, but (and I can't prove this) if he was TOLD he was gonna use tapes or be fired, what choice did the guy have?

You raving fuckheads are willing to give Fro and Friga a pass on duping you out of your hard earned money with lipsynched concerts but not for the sneaky underhanded shit they just pulled on JSS. Get your fucking heads out of your asses and think realistically for once.

Oh and sorry Mon, I wasn't coming back in your thread but stupidity necessitated it. :D

Damn I like your post'. You also would think that as soon as he was asked to lip, that he could have gotten out too. Since he was hired to 'sing', and he wouldn't be doing this anymore.

Hell yeah! Still blowing my mind how many people are just blinking at the fact as to what matter he was involved in this.
Damn, was a gun held to his head? Fine, some will say with these dudes, who knows.
FACT is he went along with it. Period.
