back up to #2 on Billboard's Top Pop Catalog http://www.billboard.com

This is up from #4 last week

Last week GNR was in the top stop and they have fallen below Journey ....... ditto for Kelly Clarkson the week
before that.

and of course now on the chart 715 weeks

Looks like some people are still believing.

I hate to sound negative, but since it's the greatest hits, it tells me that it's the casual fan who is still buying this. I haven't bought greatest hits since it originally came out.

Exactly. My friend just picked it up at Walmart or someplace like that. After watching it, she called to say she had forgotten that Journey did "this song" or "that song". She remembered hearing them on the radio in high school. Then she said "Isn't this the band w/that Perry guy u always talk about?"

Well who told him to wear that much foundation and rouge and styled his lettuce in that thing?

And Augeri takes shrapnel for the red pants but perry looked like a blushing bride in that video.

Yeah but it was the 70s & "in". Think about other rockstars from that period in time.

LOL it was the Daphne Zuniga comparison that gave me the giggle. Some of the youngsters are probably going.....Daphne who? Think Ferris Bueller or Melrose Place.

And even at it's worst, the man has always had the best "lettuce" in rock. :)

Good one Laura. Isn't it mindboggling that ANY band would not be together enough to capitalize on such a HUGE event. All the publicity = perfect opportunities to plug a new album/song. People tell me "Schon & Cain ain't stupid" but u know what, this tells me they are dumber than dumb.

*falls over laughing*

The "Lights" video and "Feeling That Way" I always called the "Raggedy Andy" videos.
No explanation should be needed on that.

It is mindboggling,honestly...You know,I thought about everything that happened now that things have cooled down a bit and I'm confused. These guys have been in the industry for a long time, they surely know how things work,at least they have learned something from others if not by themselves.
I cannot call them "stupid",although their latest decision seems to fit that description.However...it must be something that escapes us.Really.
Even people who are not in the biz realize that Journey blew it,so how could the bandmembers not foresee the disaster following JSS's firing?
Two scandals in less than a year is way too much.

Like you said...Everything was working perfectly.A succesful tour, raving reviews, excited fans, amazing publicity with the Sopranos,a year off - plenty of time to work on something new,the ideas were on the table, they were officially together for this ride...than Boom.
Who in their right minds would throw all this out the window? :?

In a way, this whole situation reminded me of Brad Delp's suicide. Why choose to die when in a few months you get married, start a new life, have a huge tour ahead of you...?
From the outside it seems completely crazy.Still, there must be something that make people and bands kill themselves. Is it really stupidity?

Maybe we'll never know.

Still bogles my mind too Laura, but I've stopped trying to analyze why they would make such a stupid decision. Until such time that the Journey guys decide to come forward and "own their own poo" (as Brian May so elequantly put it ), we'll never know. :?

It's not mind boggling, it really isn't. They fired a guy that finished a tour...big deal. They changed their minds and decided to do something else. Other than the way Jeff was fired, I don't see all of the fuss. Jeff has been in the business a long time. He's a good singer who has had a fairly nice career in the industry. However, the histrionics around here would lead you to believe that they fired Steve Perry or Elvis Presley. They fired a journeyman singer who gave the band what they needed, someone to finish a tour. After what transpired with TapeGate we all realized that these guys could be very dishonest. Jeff knew this, took his chances and had a nice run. Though he was tossed aside like a cigarette butt, he gained FAR more than he lost. He'll move on and so will Journey. Both will be fine.

What a naive vision. What an heartless non caring, who gives a shit view. As long as a certain someone gets the job, all is well eh? Now I am going to Defcon 1. Folks, may I remind you, Tapegate is dormant, but not dead. I expect it to make a huge showing of itself, fairly soon.

My post had nothing to do with "a certain someone getting the job." I'll be in South Bend to see Jeff, will you? I'll also see him anytime he's near Chicago. And for the record, "Defcon 5" is standard peacetime protocol. Defcon 1 "represents expectation of actual imminent attack."

Dude, you shit your pants more than an infant. You need to look into some adult undergarments. It would be pretty cool to sit at a bar all night without ever having to go to the bathroom. I think I'm gonna try this.
