has the window of opportunity closed on journey?

is it too late at this point in time to make a huge splash and millions in revenue if they reform with steve perry?

or is it one of those instances where time has passed them by and attendance would be spotty in certain places?

if they did would steve perry be up to the task of doing the songs justice?

Interesting questions. Let's assume for just a second that Perry hadn't adamantly said "no way" to rejoining. If he was willing, could they make a huge splash? I think so, esp. on the coat tails of The Soprano's finale. If it was a major city tour w/excellent promotion as their "farewell", I think they'd sell out across the US & Europe.

Could Perry do the songs justice? He might need them tuned down a bit, but I think w/the right amount of rehearsal, he could do it & no one but the diehards would notice the difference.

The window has not only closed, it has bars on it.

# 1 They should have waited for Perry to come back in the 1st place, now that window has slammed.

#2 They should have waited for Steve A to get better and get off the road before the DL tour.

#3 they should have kept JSS and used the sopranos finale as a spring board...

So many lost opportunities and stupid moves, one must realize that the Journey is over.

I agree with # 1 and #3.... But #2? Not to be mean or anything, but if they did that, then alot of us would have never got to hear JSS, and that would be a shame!

The women who married Neal and divorced him appear to know how to handle the latch to that window.

If you look at Van Halen now, rumored to be doing amphitheaters and possibly some arenas with DLR back then yes it seems too late to make that kind of splash.

7 years ago VH rumors had them headlining stadiums.

It is almost as though they are delusional when it comes to seeing where they were and where they are now as far as fans are concerned. It is almost like the band has a secret musical death wish. I think they will be shocked.

That window closed when they hired Augeri. Perry wants nothing to do with them.

IF Perry was even willing to work with them again he wouldn't do so unless he was equal to the task. How big you think the resulting splash would be and how many the resulting millions would depend on your point of comparison. Would you be comparing it to 1981, 1986, 1996 or any point thereafter?

They could probably make a splash comparable to 1996 which would far surpass anything they've done since or are likely to do with any singer other than Perry. That would probably result in more millions than in '96 because of higher ticket prices.

I agree with Oh Sherrie. I know they would make huge $$$ with Perry. As far as the tickets prices bringing them more, the cost for the venues, advertising, security ,travel, and pay to everyone involved must sound like a giant sucking machine hooked up to their wallets and that after Uncle Sam swipes 50 % and the States get their taxes.

I respectfully disagree.

Not because of Perry or Journey or their fans.

Because the music business is so fucked right now. If you aren't rap/hip-hop/R&B or if you don't play the same 3 chords (Nickleback) or if you don't have any angst against SOMETHING, you don't get played.

Journey and their type of music is commercially dead in the US.

I think the question was about ticket sales for concerts Amaron. Not about radio play.

Then what is the 'splash comparable to 1996'? They didn't tour.

I was talking about media interest, fan acceptance, chart position, CD sales, etc. Whatever constitutes a splash.

A Perry-led Journey would still sell out large amphitheatres and arenas. No doubt about that.

They could have done a stadium tour with VH if Edward hadn't been such a dick and Steve hadn't had a vendetta against Sony. Would have been the biggest co-headining tour of the past 20 years.

Good tune, much better than "Yankee Rose", in my opinion. I also rather enjoyed "Tobacco Road".

Ladies' Night In Buffalo's my jam.

I just rolled out DLR's "The Best" a week and a half ago.

Really not a bad song in the lot.

The TBF tour in '96-'97 would've been the zenith as far as scope.

Like Neal said baseball stadiums, football stadiums.

Now a p reuinion would be like VH is. Like a notch below the Stones, the police and genesis.
