The band is fuck amazing; the voice is completely intact; and on top of that, he looks great. Yes Steve, I'm hopelessly in love. Sorry I missed the boat.
(Grumbles) Damn "compulsary attendance laws." Damn my only being eight at the time. Damn my mother for throwing away my free Journey/Budweiser poster. DAMN YOU STEVE PERRY FOR BEING SO AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! Have I told you lately I love you?

Here's a clip of a girl singing along with Steve. It could be that it's Steve voice making her sound good, but I detect a voice at work here. At any rate, she has great taste in music, so youth can't be totally lost. Maybe the world stands a chance yet!

FYI, this isn't from a performance in Japan in 1983. This is from the 1981 BAMMIES and was at the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco. Jonathan Cain's first live gig with Journey.

LOL! You're right. I watched a Japan Frontiers clip right before and I guess my brain messed it up. Thanks for the correction. I was younger than I thought! :P

Well I have no excuse! I was 24 and it would be four more years before I discovered Journey. And if I ever lose sight of why I fell in love with Steve Perry in the first place, I will simply play this clip and it will ALL come back to me! :D

Damn, he's good.

I think I'm genetically wired to love long hair and big noses......

That clip is clearly one of the best over of the band at the top of their game. The cool thing about this clip is that the vocals are the raw feed into the sound board. You don't hear a bunch of echo or reverb on Steve's voice. The dude was absolutely fucking awesome!
