whats in store for journey in the year 2008 and beyond?

i don't think they'll retire.they will get a new singer who sings the hits and tour behind it.i don't think there will be any more studio releases.perry will get to where he will tell people not to even mention the word journey to him anymore.of course the back catalog will sustain them......

Play all your life, and at one point have millions, to wind up pushing 60 with no money and still can't retire. Man that's gotta suck. Karma's a motherfucker isn't it?

They may not be as rich as Steve Perry, but I'm sure they live quite comfortably...

i didn't even think about that.hell if they had john waite it would almost be bad english but i don't think they would have the name recognition there like they do with journey.man its pretty sad with neal, jon and ross being broke.if these guys had managed right they would be retired on a beach by now.perry was smart and now he gets to sit in his recliner and do as he wishes while these guys near 60 putting on a show that requires adrenaline and having to pace themselves on all these tours and it must be tiring.they are in the spotlight especially due to high profile tours with bands like def leppard.plus think about illegal downloading is hurting the band on catalog sales so they are like aerosmith in the fact that will have to tour to make most of the revenue.aerosmith and the stones still tour mainly because of being ripped off in their early years by bad management.throw in the fact that the back catalogs don't sell like they used to and these people will be touring until their in their seventies.

Yeah, but at this point, keeping the name Journey isn't going to get them recognized or paid if they're sitting at home with no lead singer.

What's in store for JOURNEY in 2008?

[quote="mikemarrs"]whats in store for journey in the year 2008 and beyond?

State fairs, casinos, lame street fairs in some Godforsaken midwestern backwater hole, chili cookoffs, bar b q bashes, ...etc, etc....

my buddy says he already has them book for a backyard barbque next year.this is their infamous tour rider on what they expect to be there when they arrive.....

1-all monies in one silver briefcase-samsonite preferred
2-6 bags of M&M's with all the orange ones in a separate bowl.
3-bottled water straight from the kitchen.
4-a taco bell nearby in case of extra munchies.
5-the lyrics to entire back catalog
6-a able bodied person who can sing
7-five inflatable dolls-blonde hair a must.
8-a place to crash that night......

Unfortunately, as good as 'Backlash' was, it didn't make any waves at all. And that was even riding the momentum of the debut. I never really understood why it go no run at all. Probably had something to do with the Grunge scene starting up.

the grunge scene killed a bunch of good stuff back in '91 and '92--winger put out pull and it didn't do a thing because they put beavis or butthead in a winger shirt making fun of them.

2008 and beyond- Absolutely nothing ! To make any $$ they would have to tour w Def Lepard or open for the Rollings Stones here some 40 yrs later and I think Mick is smart enough to say " What no Perry" ?

You are right, why else did they start The Generations Tour in 2005 with a singer with no voice left??? What is even dumber,is they didnt even tour this summer with a singer that was able to sing. That makes no fucking sense. What a bunch of retards

I predict Journey to be really, really, careful on picking the next lead singer. They will go slow with it, and not rush into things. Since we all know that obviously Jeremey HAS auditioned, maybe he'll be the man for the gig who knows with Journey though. Kevin Chalfant would be a good audition as well. After they get all that shit confirmed, I predict a HUGE tour in '08, and some new material to follow. A new album might be in the wings, but once again who knows.

Journey, in my book, ended pages ago. I'm not going for the tribute shit.

The question is, "will Journey impress me with a new album?"

Unlikely.. as I'm not interested in a Perry "sound-alike."

I wanted Journey to be original again with someone who could also sound a lot like Perry. Jeff was the perfect solution. They've dumped Jeff.

I've dumped Journey.

Then why do you care to post about them? All of you who say they're done with Journey will still be posting here a year from now when they have a new singer.

I'm still a Journey fan. I never made the mistake that others did by being "star struck" by these guys. Never had the desire to hang with them. Lost that desire in about 1999. Gave away meet and greet passes and opted not to be around them in Virginia. For me, it's all about the music and it will stay that way for years to come. All of this garbage about Journey's demise is just that...garbage. They'll tour just as successfully as they have over the last decade for as long as they wish to do so. The fans that they've brought in with the Sopranos plug will far outweigh the couple of hundred they lost over their shitty release of Jeff. It goes on and on and on and on.

I don't doubt it, I think they gave up doing it for the love of the music long ago. But how could they have gone through the money they've made, even considering paying off Perry? I know Neal has several more ex's, but what about Cain? Is he trying to set up his children and his children's children for life or what? They surely aren't doing it for the sake of Ross and Deen.

Coudn't agree more! I also agree with Nig. So many people on this board say they're "done with Journey", yet stay on here and bring negativity. Everyone has the right to they're opinion, but personally, if I was "Done with Journey" I would leave the board and move on. Just my opinion, but if I no longer like something I leave it and move to something else! If you are "done", why not find something that you enjoy? JMHO!
