There's a huge difference between the first solo record and the second one and a great deal of that had to do with the musicians Perry had on it. Lincoln's soloing on that record blew out of the water the pseudo-solo on "Oh Sherrie.

I agree with your comments on Lincoln. Great guitar player.
But, what you call pseudo-solo on "Oh Sherrie" was just the right part for the right song. Waddy Wachtel was one of the most used studio-players at the time, and he completely deserved it. He played with a lot of artists, he was Stevie Nicks player at the time , he played with Warren Zevon also , Jackson Browne , Don Henley. His way of playing rhythm guitar is unique. Not matched by Lincoln at all.
Plus erry's compositions in 1994 were so smooth and mellow, almost no rockers in that record, while Street Talk had a few. I much prefer Street Talk, also for the musicians he used. Neil Stubenhaus on bass, Larrie Londin on drums, you can't be wrong with them.
