What The Hell Is Only Solutions About?

Lyrically speaking I think I hear the following:

"In the jungle we run tonight....found there be some logical light...no confusion just wrong or right...

faces numbers I recognize, you don't fool me with cynical eyes...no problems, we'll compromise...

Logical circumshadows... clear vison. It won't be long, it won't take too long Only solutions shall hold me down...I just want to hear...

Modern times drive me insane, explanations I can't explain leave me standing in the rain solving mysteries with nothing to lose, logic leaves you w/out recluse there's only so much one man can do"

What lyrics did I miss, what ones did I hear wrong and most importantly what IS this song?

Some kind of Critical Thinking/Geometric/Spacial/Philosophical love gone wrong song? Know it was made for Tron which may have something to do with it...

BuffaloWings in particular, this is your department, what is your take on this thing? I think it's an interesting song with a kind of a sad little slant.

Sounds like nonsense, so it fits in Tron well.

China's hairiest man, Yu Zhenhuan, poses on a track in Beijing in his bid to run in next year's Olympic torch relay, state media said this week.

Here's the lyrics I found listed somewhere else...

In the jungle I run tonight
Find no peace to logical life
No confusion, just wrong or right, Oh yeah

Faces, numbers, I recognize
You don't fool me with cynical lies
No problems, no compromise, Oh yeah

Only solutions...
Don't pull me down, I just want to hear
Only solutions
Oh it won't be long, It won't take too long

Modern times driving me insane
Explainations I can't explain
Leave me standing in the rain, Oh yeah

Solving mysteries with nothing to loose
Magic leaves you without any clues
There's only so much one man can do, Oh yeah

Only solutions...
Don't pull me down, I just want to hear
Only solutions
Oh it won't be long, It won't take too long
Only solutions
Don't pull me down, I just want to hear
Logic with some vision
Clear visions
Clear visions

In the jungle I run tonight
Find no peace to logical light,
No confusion, just full of rights, Oh yeah

Faces, numbers, I recognize
You don't fool me with cynical lies
No problems, no compromise, Oh yeah

Only solutions
It's my point of view
Only solutions
Oh, clear vision
Only solutions
No second thoughts
Only solutions
Now, now, no contradictions

We fall even
Before loosing...
No escape

What's "loosing'?

Crazy ass song. Never cared for it. Perry's voice is beginning it's descent to "maturity" here. :(

Probably an idiot that can't spell "losing". Anyway, I agree. Never thought much of that tune.

No, I think the spelling's right "loosing" the root word being loose making the lyric mean "we fall before whatever's holding us in place comes loose" :?: Maybe. Little pun. Or it could be "we fall even before leaving."

Where I think the person got it wrong was the line "Magic leaves you without any clues." I think "magic" is really "logic" repeated from the 1st verse. Magic wouldn't fit the theme of solutions, logic, numbers, clues, searching.

Until Fyre chimes in and throws us all into a Metaphysical abyss,I'll try. :P

Oddly enough,I had this debate with someone a few years ago, someone who thought these lyrics made no sense.I disagreed, they do have a message.
I never saw "Tron",so I have no clue if the lyrics fit the movie or viceversa.

My take was that the song is about a man who's trapped in the cage of the (way too strictly) organized society and needs to escape in a world of his own in order to keep his sanity.

In the jungle I run tonight– "jungle" means his own wild thoughts, making no sense
No peace to logical life – he's restless, hates these rules/laws that society ("modern times") forced on him, this rigorous world where everything is only black and white,"no confusion, just wrong or right"...
A society where everyone is a face and a number (IDs),people who live by the rules that others come up with – some of which are "cynical lies",like the promise of a perfect world where there are "no problems,no compromise".

He's frustrated because it seems that everything has an explanation in the modern world/society.For everything there's a solution, meaning that others do the thinking for you.He wants something else…A "magic" place where you have no clue what's happening and that's exactly the magic of it.
You can find your OWN solutions, have "clear vision",your own "point of view",not be fooled by those "cynical lies" of the society.

The ending - "People reason/People reason/No escape" - is the best explanation of the song.
People are trapped into too much reasoning/logic/analysis,no one can escape this black & white world, well, unless you decide to think for yourself and live by your own rules/solutions.

I need to lie down now.

Well, thanks guys. :) I'm glad it makes sense.

No surprise that SP wrote the lyrics, sounds like him...

Yeah,Larry,I heard that Tron is not really worth seeing and I sure won't waste my time with it only to hear a song that I can listen to anytime.
Besides, the Time3 booklet warned me about this. The songs is lost in the background in that sequence.

sallee once stated that she had Dream After Dream.. i think she said that anyways...ive never seen it.... for a band as big as journey was,, i didnt even know the soundtrack existed until mid eighties,, then trying to obtain the record took an act of congress.. and $35 bucks.. still trying to see the Elder movie... why were these good ideas??? ..........

... "hey guys,, we have a japanese movie that will not be dubbed into english and will never be released in america.. would you like to take off 2 months and write a soundtrack?... it wont sell , and only hardcore fans will purchase it!!!"

I think that about does it! The song's lyrics actually fit the movie - and so does your interpretation! TRON really isn't worth seeing other than to check out where movie technology was at the time. They spent way too much time/money on the technology and not enough on the story! Heck, there's movies like that today. How about the Hulk? Pretty much all technology.

I always thought the line "In the jungle I run tonight." was reminiscent of "In the jungle, the mighty jungle the lion sleeps tonight." Kind of like what SP did with the ROR song - adding old 50's song titles to the lyrics.

I love these kinds of threads. They get into the art.
