via You tube....Pull them up with the same songs so you have your internet screens side by side..
Journey wants to sound like the records and who wins....Jeremey...He is the ONLY one to me that sounds like the CD's...and yes I do know my vocals
Come on Journey...make ur decision already and lets get on with it...I am one of the die hard fans..what the hell...we all need a decision soon...

1) Steve Perry (not interested)
2) Jason Kelty (not interested)
3) Jeremey and Arnel are both darn good. Personally, Jeremey gets the tie breaker based on some original music I've heard.

Idem dito, but replacing Arnel Pineda for Kevin Chalfant.

If they headed out with Chalfant in '98 lord only knows where they could have been now. Possibly no better than where they are now, possibly back at the top of their game. He was always the guy to step in after Perry, regardless of what Herbie Herbert or anyone else says.

I think he only has himself to blame for that.

Mmmmmm.. Ya think?
Doesn't one version of the "I got this urge to be in Journey again" story Perry told on BTM when he called Cain have a backstory that goes "Once I heard Journey was back together including Schon/Rolie/Valory/Smith/Chalfont I got this urge to be in Journey again?"
In which case it wasn't Chalfont dying by his own hand.

Thats the story I heard. I would really like to see Kevin Chalfant in Journey. Outside of Perry, this is THE guy.

I heard he wasn't as eager to drop everything to join Journey as he should have been if he really wanted it that bad.

I wish Jason Kelty was interested. I think they would pick him over everyone. The freaking amazing, effortless range and tonality of his voice. Why does being a devote Christian have to make him turn his back on "secular" music. When does religion become brain washing ? Long as he is happy that is all that matters I guess but I don't think the world is a better place when someone with his talent level can not share it with the world because of religion. I will never understand that...

I have listened to both Jeremey and Arnel side by side and Jeremey is clearly a stronger candidate.
1) He has better control and IMO will be less apt to damage his voice with Journey's grueling schedule.
2) Younger
3) He does not need a speech therapist... this has nothing to do with race just what I hear btw
4) last but not least strong original song writing ability.
5) not really an issue with me but a big one for some... Image, looks
Looks and image aside ( I listened to both with out looking at video) Jeremey is the clear cut winner in my book.

Once again here is the amazing Jason Kelty... If anyone here has seen this guy live you would have shit tie dye !! I did and it was colorful ! This guy did improv vocals that blew my fucking mind. I would say that he has or had a higher range than perry even and of course is what Journey has needed since perry left.... A true natural high tenor....

Me ? Oh hehe. Never thought anyone would request the shit I did. Ok then.. I think my covers best to worst are...
1. Whos Crying now (This was the last one I did which I think turned out best because the other ones below taught me what I need to do production wise to get to this point.)
2. Ill be alright without you. (crappy mic because this was the 1st one)
3. After the fall ( Voice was a bit rough in a place or two and the vocal track has some weird treble issues I couldnt eq out) Turn down the treble !!!
4. If he should break your heart. (vocal track was too compressed and MONO DUH and I messed up the lyrics but happy with it mostly and happy with the high adlib I did at the end)
5. Lights (pitchy in a place or two but minor)
6. Feelin that way. (rough vocal day)
Also did A queensryche cover of "I dont believe in love" which turned out ok and this is on the same page..

I can see how you think that. There is nothing wrong with Christians listening to and performing secular music if it is not crude. There are some religions that are to strict and dont like it or allow it,{which I thinks stinks} but not all. There are alot of christians out there now singing all kinds of music, its a personal choice, unless they are in a cult{and they are out there} IMO

I talked to Jason a while back and while he seemed happy god was all he could talk about and I think he was even trying to convert me even after I explained my views and I hate that. I think religion can be very unhealthy if it is all you think about because obsession of any kind might be the sign of neurosis. I think someone brain washed the man.
Love god all you want but I cant believe that god would have an issue with someone singing music especially music about relationships and love and bringing happiness to people by using your GOD given talents. From what he told me about it sounded more like a cult than anything else. I feel bad for the guy. Waste of talent IMHO but it is his to waste.....

The rest of the band was as good as he was too ! Scott Pisota had Neal's licks and tone dead on every song. Close your eyes and you were at a Journey concert. Perfect song tempos, perfect feel perfect tones and perfect eagles level harmonies. Man it was the complete package. As a matter of fact during that time I was a casual fan and knew the big 12 and that was about it. Didnt own a single album. It was only after hearing them do some things I had not heard that I started buying cd's and became a bigger fan. It may be selfish but it pisses me off that religion stops this guy from singing Journey. I could understand Slayer, Pantera etc but Journey ??? IMHO that is selfish and I think god would rather see him brings smiles to the faces of others than not do anything at all. Just dont get it.. If he was up for it he would get that job and I think anyone that hears him would agree. He isnt trying to sound like perry other than some of the isms and wording. Thats just his natural voice...

Explain that God plays guitar in Journey and he will throw his hat in the ring.

Of all the guys mentioned as a possibility for the lead singer position, here is how I rank them:
1. Jason Kelty
2. Arnel Pina-Colada
The other guys mentioned don't even come close to these two.

People talk about what is important to them. It seems to me that a lot of people think that mentioning God more than once in a conversation is an attempt to proselytize.

I agree that would be rather annoying. However, considering that the story is on The Onion, it's probably not even true, since they are only all about comedy in the first place.

It's obviously not true. But we all know people like that.

I don't personally know anyone that's over the top. I've heard of people like that and seen them here or there but that's fortunate, because I would want to bitch-slap them.
I understand why people are annoyed by that. As a Christian, I'm supposed to share Christ in some way, but I think too many people try to bludgeon people over the head with it when the other person doesn't want to hear it. That doesn't do anyone any good at all.

Quote from that artice that was references earlier in this thread.
"Teamwork," Thompson said, holding up a copy of Kurt Vonnegut's Breakfast Of Champions. "I asked Jesus, 'Jesus, do you want trash like this at the library?' Jesus didn't even have to take any time to think! He said, 'Hugh, no book filled with drawings of women's privates and people's behinds belongs in a library!' I move we do what Jesus would."
This guy didnt find god ! He found schizophrenia !
Private parts in a book, umm didnt god create private parts? Yes being the answer why would we be ashamed of something god created and want to destroy it. Oh, I get it ! If you dont think like I think then you are wrong, a sinner, crazy and going to hell ! Where does this demented logic come from. So many people seem like they are sheep these days.
If I hear a voice in my head and it claims to be god I am going directly to the hospital. It could be a damn stroke for all I know !!

"Thanks to the combined efforts of God and his friends in Mobile, Vonnegut's book was removed from shelves."
Oh thats fucking nice.. How is this different from censorship ? These fucking biggots piss me off. Keep your religion based censorship out of my PUBLIC library. Whats next ? I am sure he would have any book that he doesnt agree with removed (censored) and claim god (his schizophrenia) said so...
