Just got back. A quick review, as it's 2:30 AM....

A decent remake. A lot of swearing, almost to the point of ridiculousness, but once they get back in Haddonfield... it worked. The high school in the film is actually our town's library, amusing (well to me). Definitely a few twists to the original story line, but it still works.

And it was totally kickass seeing Karen's name emblazoned on the screen at the end. Go girlfriend! She was pleased with the outcome as well. She, of course, knew every scene inside out, backwards & forwards, so everytime I jumped, she was laughing at me.

After the film was over, she took me on a tour of the film sites, which considering the size of my town took less than 10 minutes. This is the street where we kept the neighbors up until 2 am with Laurie screaming. This is the street where the cop threatened to close us down....

etc etc etc... much fun. The "Myers" house now looks beautiful. You'd never know it was the same home.

Much fun. Enjoy.

I was worried about this, and from the reviews I've read my fears are confirmed that the present day Halloween Haddonfield parts are BIGtime Cliff Notesed in favor of 30-40 minutes of young myers exposition.

The young Michael section takes at least 1/3 of the movie. Rob decided to show how Michael became Michael. It's long, littered with F-bombs, but it kinda works for this film. It was definitely longer than it needed to be, but clear that Rob wanted to highlight his wife, who is Michael's mother in the film.

Go see it anyway. Enough good jumps to make it worthwhile.
