I watched 92 laps of this last night and it turns out it's a bad thing when you fall asleep at a bar.
I applaud anyone who can enjoy this...but I just don't. It's sad when something bores me more than watching golf.

NASCAR is a mindless event to watch. Maybe being there or actually in the car is fun, but watching cars go in circles for the better part of 4 hours is disturbing. People that have "NASCAR parties" should be put in Straight Jackets and get a 72 hour psych exam.

I have one name for you: Kasey Kahne. It's worth it to watch the race just to see any of his commericals. He is a cutie, and we all know that is THE number one qualification for a decent NASCAR driver. Sigh.... 8) 8)

You people who don't like it, don't understand it. There is so much more than driving faster than the other guy. Laugh all you want, but it's the fastest growing sport in the nation, and is a lot more fun to watch than some thug raping sasquatchs playing basketball.

You're right, dude....I DON'T get it. That's why I applaud anyone who does and gets enjoyment out of it. I just can't. Makes me want to fall asleep...kinda like it did last night.

You just have a boner because 48 did so well!!! :P
Were you there?

I still like the road courses more than the ovals. Watkin's Glen, with 20, 11 and 99 going at it through the grass in the S-turn - now that was freakin' cool!

Glad you and your new family are doing well!!!

I see your point Liam. I hated Nascar, but when the NHL had the lockout, I needed something to watch and the NBA is unwatchable. Big pussies tripping over painted lines, looking for fouls, missing foul shots, thumping their chests, driving drunk, raping people, kids out of wedlock, drugs, guns you name it....garbage league with garbage humans......So I checkout Nascar, pick a driver who can speak in complete sentences, is from California, and is a good guy...Jimmie Johnson. Then, I learn how certain things work and the sport is really interesting. Take 2 tires, or 4? splash of gas or not? Camber, air pressure up or down, piece of tape on the grill, turn off the blowers, draft, high line or along the bottom......there is a lot of strategey and brains involved.

Now, granted, California is the worst race to watch. Just boring, but there are so many good tracks, like Talledega, Bristol, Richmond, Dover, Daytona and Phoenix, and also the road courses are great too.

Can't remember the race, but one of my favorite Nascar moments was when Johnson drove head on into a wall, then jumped up on top of the car and threw his arms up like he had just won the race! So cool!
(And very sexy, lol.)

(Where was that? I think he was driving a white car, and in a white uniform)

I've never experienced it, but I work with a bunch of people from NC, and some of them are NASCAR nuts. They install surround sound for the soul purpose of the 'sport'. They crank it way up when the green flag is waved just to hear the cars screaming up to speed. I guess it's broadcast in stereo, and they get a fuller NASCAR experience by hearing the cars sound move from one speaker to the next.

It does little for me, but there must be something to it for so many people to go to the races. I drove by Texas Motor Speedway on a Thursday before a race weekend, and there was literally a sea of RV's parked around the place. I think TMS holds like 200,000 people, and it sells out. THAT is incredible.

Years ago at Watkins Glen, in his Busch car. He said he did that because he couldn't believe he was still alive. I was at the race last night. And I'll be in Richmond this weekend. Yeah, I've got it bad............lol.

Yeah
you do, lol!
Do you work for someone, or just deadheading (& for which #?)

Thanks for the info on Johnson. Yeah, you could tell he was just happy to have survived that one, lol. He handled it perfectly. For me, one of the all time classic moments, lol.

Hear! Hear! Great post - there is so much strategy that is not apparent to the casual observer!
