I disagree. I think it is the so called "fans" of the band Journey. I can think of many other bands that have gone through multiple personnel changes and musical style changes, that have not had the constant "fan" fighting that Journey has.

It is a shame that this will no longer be the Journey forum (IMO). There still are a few of us fans left. Again, IMO, the trouble comes from "fans" who are really not fans of the current band and have not been fans of this band since the aproximately 1996-97. There seems no letting go of this band for some.

Also, I have never seen a band whos fans need to project their ideas and opinions on the band itself more than these "fans". And when these "opinions" don't come to fruition, they hate the band and need to stick around and let everyone know that they hate the band. From the "Loons", to the "Wigglers", to the "disgruntled ex-employees", to the few real fans (it seems), it never ended. I know JSS was a friend to some on the board. Pesonally, I liked what he brought to the band. But it is not our band, it is their band to do with as they please. We can choose to continue to listen and like, or to dislike and leave. But Journey fans just can't seem to let go for some odd reason. I have read for months now, since the JSS deal went down, how so many people here are done with Journey. Well then be done with Journey. There are other forums on this board, but no, we have to bring down this forum.

And as for the "Legacy" issue, I will just say that there are more than a few bands currently in the ROR hall of fame that have done much worse to their legacy than touring on their past hits and putting on a good show. Not that the ROR hall of fame means much to me personaly, I only mention it because it seemed like a big topic to many on this board. I have gone and will still go to Journey concerts and escape from reality for a couple hours once or twice a year and enjoy the music. As long as the ticket prices are reasonable (they always have been to me, and no I don't need to be up front). When the music doesn't move me anymore I will move on and have the memories. I sure as hell won't be on a forum bashing a band I am supposedly once was a fan of.

Andrew, I am sorry you have lost respect for the members of and the band Journey. But is that not purely because in your perception they wronged a good friend of yours? Is it any worse business wise than the way you were treated by Joe Elliot a year or more ago? As I said I really like what JSS brought to the band. I personaly don't like the way his departure was handled by the band. But I must say, I have heard of and seen much worse dismissals out here in the real world than from what I "heard" went down here. I am not privy to all the inside info that you and Jeff's close friends here are, so maybe there is more to the story. In all honesty, maybe sometimes it is better to not be so close to a situation.

This is your site Andrew, and I have enjoyed reading and participating here for a long time. You can get rid of the Journey forum if you wish, that is your rite. I think it is a shame because it is one of the main reasons I started visiting here and have continued to do so, as I am sure it is for others.

I am sorry for the long rant. Even though I have more to say, I will leave it at that. I am sure I will be blasted and disected as is the nature of the board. That is / was part of the fun though, at least when things weren't so blatantly mean spririted. I have chatted with alot of nice folks here over the years, and I wish you all well. I may continue to lurk from time to time, at this point I am not sure. Up until the last couple months it has been alot of fun overall.

Andrew has done so much for this band. Yeah, they flew him out to do the Feature...big whoopy shit. A few thousand to sweep tapegate under the proverbial carpet...keep a lid on it. Well, a few of us wouldn't allow that to happen, as we wanted the truth to come out. Andrew knew too. There are still people who think Journey Never Lipped, they never deceived! There are some that think Andrew played a part in it! There are some that say I was paid by Journey to expose Augeri! There are some that think Neal was "Rockindeano" last year! There is a lot of sgit that many of you here do not know of and unless I say something, never will know. Neal, Princess, Grandpa and the others will never speak out.

I hate what this band has done not only to me, but to others here who have spent time and money and them were ass reamed.

I just know at this point, I really would not care to meet them and I don't have any respect left. They act like teens in a way.

He may be pissed about the dismissal but many of us didnt even know who he was before the Journey gig and that has led to new fans and new record sales and concert attendance. Not too bad of an outcome. I have many fond memories of Journey, memories that started back in the 70's and carried on today. I cant and wont just turn that off. I was about to put into words how I feel about Journey. So here it is:

The Journey I knew couldn't wait to try new music, to grow and stretch. Each record they did was better then the last one. I don't know who this Journey really is. I'm not sure I want to either.

I guess I am one of those "fans" that you speak of. I come in here and read when I can. Shortly after 1997 most people realized what Journey and their "management" was all about. Rumors started about SP never having hip surgery, when in fact he did ( a fact that Lora Beard herself confirmed only a short while ago on this board) This as they hired a look a like, wanna be, Augeri. I was given second row tickets to see them perform with Augeri and left after the 5th song, no charisma, no talent and thankfully I didnt waste my money on it. And as history repeats itself time after time, when Augeri became ill, they ditched him just as they did SP. Money is all there is in Neal's life, he needs it to pay alimony, child support etc. He couldnt sing his way out of a paper bag so his livelihood (sp) depends on his lead singers. With Jeff, and I applauded his addition to the band, Neal's fear was that Jeff was something bigger than what he wanted. So Jeff was excluded like the previous 2.

A trip down Journey lane - When it was just Greg singing, they did OK, when SP joined, that was the fuel the band needed to become what they became. If you deny that fact you are only lying to yourself.

The bottom line is INTEGRITY, to adhere to moral and ethical principals. character and honesty. No one in that organization today has any integrity and I am willing to put money on the fact that they no longer even trust each other. They lost their integrity years ago with their original fans, the ones that bought the music and tickets and merchandise. SP asked them not to bring the Journey name down, it was almost like a premonition that he had, perhaps he had seen the writing on the wall. It is probably why today when asked if he would ever rejoin the band his answer is the same. Why jump on a sinking ship?
