If I may:

Nora Tragianese in a related Barbie BRITNEY thread wrote:OK Unless you've been under a FREAKIN' ROCK for the last, oh, 90 days or so....

....NOW YOU KNOW that Britney Freakin' Spears will be opening the VMAs tomorrow night...in Vegas..."Ground Zero" for "gambling"...

...be it with your money....OR your career.

I really hope that Ms. Spears does NOT make a fool out of herself, since tomorrow night will be LIVE....

But at the same time, this girl's WHOLE CAREER was built around an EFFING FANTASY of a "little hot Chick" who can basically carry a tune...and dance very well.

....SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOUR WHOLE CAREER IS BUILT AROUND FRAUD???!!!!

This girl now has to redeem herself....but she really never did anything BY or FOR herself....IMO, the REAL "Britney" is out now....no WAY you can re-bag the Cat into the Bag....

She should release a Punk album, or something...she's SOO ANGRY now....

She was a ROBOTIC MESS....completely DEAD in the eyes; NOT IN SHAPE; NOT into it

....girl, please....GET YOUR LIFE TOGETHER!!!!

Is it on you tube yet? I haven't seen it because I don't have cable. I actually feel bad for her. Just a few short years ago, she was the most sought after pop star in the world. I know she's made mistakes, but my, the landing has been bumpy....

What a magnificent trainwreck. THAT'S entertainment.

.....

I finally got a chance to watch this clip just now so I had to edit this post.

First of all, her beer belly looked really hot, don'tcha think. Then, could she not at least put a little volumizing foam in that weave so its not flat stuck to her greasy roots? And seriously, we all know she lipsynchs... no TG here, but could she at least act like she knows what the hell that entails. She looked like a poorly dubbed Japanese film. Finally, the song? Are you serious? What low-rate porno cover did she read those lyrics off of?

She would have done better if she had went out there in a potato sack and sang "I'm a little teapot." Sad, just sad.

She was slow and nervous, but she looked great I thought.

She is sad and only doctors probably can save her from herself. She got ate up by too many people trying to make money off of her at a young age. So does anyone think Madonna really survived or was she smarter?

That was truly a disaster for her. She had the chance there to really come back strong and she blew it.

LAS VEGAS — Somewhere, Kevin Federline is laughing. An out-of-shape, out-of-touch Britney Spears delivered what was destined to be the most talked about performance of the MTV Video Music Awards — but for all the wrong reasons.

Kicking off the show Sunday night with her new single, "Gimme More," Spears looked bleary and unprepared, much like her recent tabloid exploits on the streets of Los Angeles. She walked through her dance moves with little enthusiasm. It appeared she had forgotten the entire art of lip-synching. And, perhaps most unforgivable given her once-taut frame, she looked embarrassingly out of shape.

Even the celebrity-studded audience seemed bewildered. 50 Cent looked at Spears with a confused expression; Diddy, her new best friend, was expressionless.

Some comeback.

"Out-of-synch lip-synching. Lethargic movements that seemed choreographed by a dance instructor for a nursing home. The paunch in place of Spears' once-taut belly. At times she just stopped singing altogether, as if even she knew nothing could save her performance."

THis from an AP article, I love the nursing home comment. I was moved to go to the MTV website and watch it. What an embarrassment. Certainly with a two word song, you could keep the mouth in line a little bit better? AND.....this would have been the time to choose a dress over underwear. Who advises this poor girl?

Dude we get it - you hate republicans. Let it go. Every thread doesn't need to be made political. She sucked is the point of this thread. The republicans didn't make her suck nor did the democrats. She finally has been exposed for the talentless hack she truly is.

While I agree with everyone here ( that her perfomance was total crap!), I heard something on the radio this morning ( while driving the youngest to school) that makes me think about this some.

He (DJ) said he got it off TMZ, though I've yet to find the link there. It seems that Twitney overheard Sarah Silverman practicing her routine shortly before the show started. And asked her, and the MTV people to not allow SS to "trash her kids" in the routine. Seems they all told her "tough shit" and Twitney was extremely upset. To the point of her trying to walk out. They ( supposedly) had to drag her back and make her perform.

Which- if it IS true- could explain the lack-luster performance. Or then again, she could just suck

'Cause people that are white trash know they are such and usually take that as a compliment. Its a part of being white trash. Embracing your loserocrity.

Thank Moonie!

Look, I'm no fan of Twitney ( or any of her contemporarys!) but that struck me when I was listening. Along with the fact that while looking for "said link" over at TMZ, there was a video of her rehearsing( http://www.theflavoroflovegirls.comandw ... s-up-vmas/ )that was much better than the actual performance (well, better for her anyway  ). So that *may* be part of the reason. Of course, I didn't watch the actual show- MTV means nothing to me anymore, except another channel I never watch :P

my fave bob lefsetz www.lefsetz.com forwarded this email he received from a student regarding the fiasco, er, I mean Britney at the VMA's. An interesting comment toward the end.

I think I just vomited in my mouth, Bob. This is the worst thing I've ever
seen. My girlfriend calls me up as Britney's getting on to perform and I think
I laughed so loud the other side of our duplex heard me. I've never seen a
performance so bad that I actually felt bad for someone before, but this girl
made it happen. The whole thing looked like a high school talent show. The
dancing was boring, the music terrible and there was no way in hell she honestly
thought she looked good up there wearing whatever she was. I remember being a
teenager and being wooed by her sex appeal, but this really made me want to
puke.

On top of that, the whole show is a laughing stock. Technical problems, boring
guest speakers (what the hell was up with Alicia Keyes?) and the worst comedian
in the history of comedy as host, Sarah Silverman. Not only can you understand
why the music industry sucks so much, but you really feel bad for it. If this is
representative of my generation's music, I don't want anything to do with it.
Give me the 60's, 70's or the 80's over any of this crap. I keep trying to think
about who I'll be able to tell my kids about later in life, but there really
isn't a single one that lives up to anything my parents and older brothers ever
told me about.

Please save me, Bob.
