Has Schon handed over the REIGNS to Cain?

It seems Jon Cain is doing all the public speaking lately...Does Jon Cain know what's best for Journey? Is Neal just a YES man?

If memory serves me (even with the occasional falter) Sock boy usually allowed others do the talking - he played guitar and was happy with it.

I think you mean "reins" instead of "reigns".

Sorry, just thought that was a rather Freudian slip there.

heheh I was thinking the same thing, Dave ...... then I thought about it again .......

yes "reins" are what you use to steer - and one can drive or can "hand over" the reins to another driver.

and "reign" is something that is done - as to "reign" over someone/kingdom/group - unquestioned authority (and is not something that anyone can "hand over")

Even tho "reins" is grammatically correct, it seems either one would fit Neal in these circumstances

Yeah, that's why I thought it was funny. Some in the band seem to have a monarch complex.

My guess is that Journey is completely run by Jon Cain and Irving Azoff. Neal is probably asked his opnion, it is rejected, then Azoff and Cain run out of the room and burst into laughter. Like they'd EVER consider any of his advice with the track record he has.

Cain the spokesman Neal the Boss and Azoff---what does he do again???

Neal could be like the Bobby Bowden of Journey. It's "Neal's Band" yes but he probably defers and delegates. He probably wants to create, make music but has no truck with the actual admin of the band.

And if Cain's better at the business end, fine.

And what of Perry?

While the above may or may not be correct, IMO they still have to consult SP before major decisions are made.

His financial interests are tied up in the Journey name so either he or his lawyer(s) are consulted at some point.

I think the real question is: "Who has the other's dignity and manhood in a velvet box on their nightstand?"

That one is a toss-up. :P

No, as I see it, JC is the musical director, but Neal is the boss. Everyone follows Neal...trouble is, the direction changes too many times.

No one wants Neal to talk because uh, like, uh, yeah, like, ya know, uh........

I think it is likely Neal says what he wants to happen and Jon sees that it does...

Couldn't disagree more...though what you say is certainly a possibility. I see Azoff and Cain making the decisions and Cain talking Neal into believing that their view is what is best for the band. I think Neal wanted Jeremey and Cain didn't, and that's why we're in a supposed holding pattern waiting for Arnel's contractual obligations to be completed. However, I still say they'll wake up and realize that Arnel's voice is not going to hold up under tour conditions. He's wonderful as a weekend singer, but it seems to me that he stretches out so far vocally on some of those songs that there is no way he could play 4 or 5 nights in a week. He is a tremendous talent nonetheless.

arnel....

The fact that he auditioned makes it quite clear that they are very serious. I still maintain that they'll go with someone else in the end.

It would be career suicide under normal circumstances, but seing as how they've committed that SEVERAL times, nothing would shock me. The band is an archaic old dinosaur that never learned to leave while they were still on top. How can people miss you if you won't go away.

True, but how can you pay (several) alimony if you do?

I still have a hard time believing that Neal actually wanted Jeff out of the band...I think it was mostly Jon and Neal reluctantly went along with it? Who knows...but Neal sure has been inconsistent on many occassions....he can talk the talk...BUT he changes his mind like the fuckin' wind changes directions.

Apart from the decisions about JSS....how has Schon been inconsistent? Journey didn't change lead singers for twenty years and it was another eight years before they changed it again and that was only because Augeri lost his voice.

It seems to me that if anything Schon hasn't changed direction enough...which until recently was what most fans here were complaining about.

Exactly, and that's what we thought the band was trying to do when Jeff came on board....

3 singers in a 12 month time span is a lot. Augeri out, Jeff in for 11 months and the TBA singer.
