LocknLoad (Neal, I think)...

3 headliners for the Austin City Limits music fest cancelled and I was thinking, hhhmmmmmmmmm, maybe Neal could fill in for one of them and show all these University of Texas kids how to really rock 'n roll! White Stripes, Amy Winehouse, and one other group dropped out but Bob Dylan is going to be here; so is Lucinda Williams (I think you would like her if you haven't ever heard of her...) If you came and played on one of the headliner stages and did some Jimi Hendrix, let's say, or some rockin' Journey songs, I think the crowds would go crazy. They sure went crazy when the Stones were here! Just dreamin'--I sure would be there loving every minute of it!! ****HUGE sigh*****

I think what she is saying Andrew is that Neal should come to the Austin City Limits Music fest and play guitar, since some of the other acts dropped out.

Sallee--you are a genius!! You got all that into one sentence!! (Not being sarcastic at all--I didn't realize I was all over the place with my post.
Sorry Andrew for the confusion; but that's
exactly what I meant!!

CDL, my husband and I are going to Bob Dylan night; my brother told me he'd seen Bob a couple of times and he puts on a really good show... I think Lucinda is playing that day so I think we will try and go see her also if it isn't too hot...

Who the fuck would want to see Neal on stage by himself? He's been a coattail rider for for the better part of 30 years. No one is interested in seeing him alone....no one. Ok, maybe Niggy.

And me...
I'd like to go see Neal play the entire Pirhanna Blues album in a dive bar.
Heaven.

I would, too! I don't know if this type of venue is his bag or what, but a lot of the kids would realize what a great guitar player he is if he played something like this, I think. Maybe he could play with Bob D or one of the other headliners or whoever!! Oh, well, just dreaming--it's this weekend anyway...

Yes me too as well. Esecially in some dive....maybe even unplugged. I loved that unplugged solo he did on the version of Liberty Journey did with Reo and Styx.....a couple of hours of that would be great. But absolutely NO smooth jazz allowed.

Pick a nice fucking local blues singer with a Marlboro Red voice outa the crowd....
And let the whole album RIP in it's entire running order whilst the beers are pouring.

I have never been onset for 'Austin City Limits', but I try to catch the TV show every chance I get.
Think I've got a Stevie Ray Vaughn tape somewhere of it. Jimmy LaFave is another local hero. Los Lonely Boys were on just the other night I think. Austin is such a great music town. Anybody familiar with '6th Street'? It's very much like Beale St in Memphis...maybe better.
I think it'd be great if Neal Schon resurrected Piranha Blues for the show and/or festival.
Maybe throw in a little SS & Journey too.
later~

Trust me, there are many of us who would love to see Schon do a solo concert!

Just imagining Neal playing one of the stages at ACL is awesome; or Stubb's or the Backyard or Antone's (maybe a little to small for him but tons of fun)... Does he ever play at these types of gigs? I wish he would drop by in this thread and say something, like, yes, no, maybe.

Hummmm, that would be ME! Would love to see/hear him play PB, LN, BtT or Voice...he's awesome in my book.
Or, if he choose to play with Vai or maybe Carlos or Greg..that would be awesome too.

Another is Neal solo in some dive bar in the sticks somewhere.

Can you believe it?? This thread has not gone into the ditch, yet!! When Neal does Crossroads Guitar Festival does he play by himself? Someone in some thread said he has played there before...
A friend of mine here in Austin about 30+ years ago used to go to a Mexican food restaurant on the east side called Dario's along with some of her friends. Attached to the restaurant was just a small bar, dance floor, chairs and a stage; you know, wood paneling, chili pepper lights, ceilings sagging a little but not dirty; Dario's has excellent Mexican food even now. Anyway, they used to go there and Steve Ray Vaughan would play during the week every so often. Just east side locals and fans of his before he became world famous. Can you believe that!?! She said looking back it was fantastical; she knew he was going to be very popular but didn't really grasp how gifted he was. Too young, too many beers.
Larry, Stubb's barbeque (is that how it's spelled?) sauce is pretty good, too!!

I guess twas moi, along with a group of my friends, we saw Neal along with Jon & Randy Jackson play at the Crossroads a couple of years ago; so of course he wasn't alone, but it was awesome...they did the SSB.

He was good--it's too freakin' sad. Are there any young guitar players coming up who are like him, or is that style gone forever?

I went back and watched that vid again and no, I don't think Neal could do even that. I think Stevie was in a league all by himself. Kind of makes me want to cry actually.
