"I went to see Van Halen rehearse last night. They were fucking amazing (ear-boners). Seriously, the hair on my arms was standing up. Dave sang great, Eddie was shredding, Alex is a fucking monster and Wolf was perfect. Great on bass and hit every high note. The set list was 2 1/2 hours of the best shit. I'm The One, Atomic Punk, Romeo Delight, Somebody Get Me A Doctor, Mean Street, Unchained and so many more. Do whatever you gotta do to get tix to see this. FINALLY!!!!! A real full blown arena rock act!!!!! It's like listening to the soundtrack of America since 1978. THE KINGS ARE BACK!!!!!!!"

Scott Ian is a punk. Isn't this the same dude that has ripped Journey for years? If it's the little bald midget dude with the obnoxious goatee he is a complete tool. Like Anthrax was ever any good.

Gotta admit, it makes me want to cry that everyone from the 80's got the reunion of a lifetime...except journey fans. :(

OK SJ - let's see if we can figure this out.

Past and Present band members of Journey (if I have omitted anyone - too bad - lack of oxygen kills brain cells)

Prairie Prince
Aynsley Dunbar
George Tickner
Robert Fleischman
Gregg Rolie
Neal Schon
Ross Valory
Steve Smith
Steve Perry
Jonathan Cain
Deen Castronovo
Steve Augeri
Jeff Scott Soto

Total = 13
(not included: Randy Jackson, Michael Baird, Larry Loudin hired as contract players during 1 tour)

Members Fired from Journey:

Aynsley Dunbar
Robert Fleischman
Ross Valory
Steve Smith
Steve Perry (not here to argue the semantics of fired, moved on without or bailed - not the purpose of this comment)
Steve Augeri
Jeff Scott Soto

Total = 7

53.84% of members being fired, I can see how a reunion might be tough!!

Not a very good rate of attrition.

The point is simple...Steve Perry could give the fans what they want by simply sucking it up, playing with Neal and Jon for a small tour and making everyone happy. But let's review history...he quit the ROR tour, quit the FTLOSM tour and never even bothered to tour in support of TBF. Hence, my conclusion is that he really doesn't care too much about the fans...unless it's time to disguise the Dirty Dozen into another neatly packaged compilation and drain us for a few more bucks. Oh, i forgot that he keeps in touch with us annually with those enthralling, pre-screened Q&A's.

I don't think it has anything to do with not caring what the fans want. Seriously Dan, if you were SP would you want to hang with those guys again? Especially after recent events. I'm guessing SP knew something a long time ago that Brian May mentioned recently about them "owning their own poo". Life's too short to not be happy. The guy is almost 60 and I don't blame him at all for not wanting to get out there again with Journey. Saying that, wouldn't mind seeing him (solo) playing a few smaller venues once in a while. :( But then again, I'd be just as happy with them releasing another live classic era dvd.......especially ROR!

While true, what does any of that have to do with his bailing on his solo tour?

I love SP, but Saint John's post seems pretty dead on to me.

(p.s. Funny how even the Van Halen thread gets turned into an Espee thread!!! Jealous, I guess, lol.
Happy for you VH fans though,...
 )

Actually you missed my point completely ..... I even stated it in my comment - "this is not to argue the semantics" of Perry .....

The POINT is that any fucking organization that continues to fire more than 50% of its members is not going to have enough willing participants for a "reunion"

fuck shit piss goddamned people who don't read are really fucking pissing me off.

Ya know, I don't HAVE a lot of time left on this planet ........ I really the fuck do not feel like wasting it on a fucking asshole shitass Perry fucking argument that has been beaten to death.

That is not what I was talking about .......

thank you for allowing me this moment to vent

I don't want to see him tour with a bunch of pseudo musicians again. Steve was amazing when he toured last, but the musicianship left a LOT to be desired. He needs Journey and Journey needs him at this point if either is to be successful. Unless of course he decides to get Randy Jackson, Nuno, Smitty and a keybaord player and uses AI to catapult them to the top. I'd still rather see him with Journey though. As would WELL over 90% of Journey's fan base.

If van Halen can do it so can Journey. And don't believe the bullshit that's being written, DLR's voice is not what they're making it out to be. It's rough sounding. Plus, he wasn't good when he was good.

I agree, and I agree. Journey will be nothing without Perry, and THAT is the only thing that would open my wallet. I might see one show with Jeremey just to say I got to see him living his dream, and you're right that DLR wasn't a good singer. His strength came in his showmanship. Perry had both.

EDIT: BTW, fuck Scott Ian. Anthrax Sucks!

Wake up people... a reunion with Steve ain't never gonna happen...

Quit crying about it... in the scheme of important things it doesn't matter one iota.

Now move on and get lives.

Singers who weren't good when they were good have the great advantage of lower expectations than that to which singers who were once great would be held. Perry learned his limitations in '94, no way he is coming back after his voice has endured another 14 years of no use.

I had to read this a couple of times to understand it, but it is absolutely right. The thing that gets me is how rough Perry sounded in 91 at the Graham memorial and then better on FTLOSM, and still better on TBF. :?

Took me a while to figure out how to write it too...
Yes, Perry should have kept working it out instead of heading back into the cave after TBF.

I'd much rather the Departure tour or Evolution tour be released. ESPECIALLY Houston for Departure. But...make a double sided DVD with Departure and ROR and title it "Two Sides To Everything". :-)
