Who can hit the high notes on Sweet and Simple

In the middle of Sweet and Simple, Perry hits some amazingly high notes on the word "what" with "It's what I like to do". ANyone know whether he ever was able to duplicate it in concert? Probably would have been back in 79 - 80 era if he did. What about Augeri? JSS?

Can any of the other singers being considered to replace JSS hit it? My guess is that not many can, which shows the amazing range of Perry and why Herbie thought he would be the best addition 30 years ago.

He drops into falsetto on that part... serious "dog-range" there....

Think Sweet and Simple is tough, Somethin' to Hide is harder. I believe Perry hit the highest note ever recorded in rock n roll, or some shit like that.

Deano- I asked the Univ of Cin Conservatory of Music some months ago if it was possible to sing higher than high E. They couldn't answer and then I forgot about it. Maybe Nora knows.Believe it or not I only discovered Sweet & Simple in the last yr. Too many kids and businesses and now with MR I catch up.

Somethin' to Hide is one of my all-time favorites. I agree, highest note in rock and roll, ever. As a semi-vocally inclined chick, I can't even pretend to get anywhere near the top of that range, its just incredible. What ability.

Sorry, but I can hit the highs on both songs. My top is the note from "Bohemian Rhapsody" (sp?) and that is higher. Brad Delp also hits some higher notes on "More Than A Feeling" than the two Journey songs mentioned. Personally, I think Perry could sing even higher than he did on those. He gets up there during the blues jam portion of the 1978 Chicago Soundstage video. There are plenty of higher notes out there.

Higher, lower, whatever. Nobody sings like Perry!

I would totally buy that - it was very high and very amazing. I used to be able to hit SOME of those high notes, but teaching is a bitch on the voice. :?

Damn, I wish I could remember what song that was that Perry sang on one of my concert boots. It was early Journey, and Perry hit these incredible high notes, live....... :? ......... And no, it wasn't Sweet and Simple.........

You big blockhead Sallee, it was Somethin' to Hide or Winds of March. Perhaps even Do You Recall from the Denver '79 show...that one note he holds out...fuck me all to Hell.

He also hits it out of the ballpark with Homemade Love...effortless no less!

Herbie said that this live incarnation of the band 'would make your dick drop dead!'

I can't speak for this dude being a fuckass or a dickhole (and you heard that one here first) but, I can hit those notes as well after a little warm up and I'm 41. There are plenty of people out there that can those fuckin notes dude. Fuck, have you ever heard Steelheart? That Mamojamovich dude doesn't have any soul but he can hit notes well above those. Lots of people can hit those notes. Are they as good as Perry, uh, fuck no.

The real question is can your boy JSS hit them?

Dude, are you high? You can sing fucking Somethin' to Hide, and hit that stratospheric note with no problem? Ok dude. If all you wonder singers can hit these notes, why the Hell aren't you singing for Journey? Call Neal.

My Boy JSS? I don't know, ask him. I imagine so.

Deano, you need to keep in mind all the people who line up for hours at American Idol auditions convinced they can sing. Even after they're laughed at they still think they can sing.

Judging by the painful "freedom" song they recorded. Not a chance. My ears are still hurting from listening to that clip.

Nope, I'm not high. Can I sing it, yes. Did I say with no problem, no, you did (hence my warm up comment). Am I a wonder singer, no, again you said that, not me. Can I hit the notes, yes, just like many. many other people out there.

As far as JSS goes, I image not. Are you high?

There aren't many guys that can hit those notes in those two songs, not in full OR head voice anway. Falsetto perhaps.

I would sure like to hear all of these people that claim to be able to hit those notes. Don't be shy, record and post them here.
