Give it 6 months and I guarantee they'll be Arnel lovers in every other post, as there where with Augi and Soto ones, it's always the case. If he comes on here and posts most will want in, that's just how shallow it is in cyberspace.

that i can understand... but we are a fan base of the music first and foremost... so if the music sounds more than excellent... as Ian said...give it 6 months... Arnel lovers will be heard here, just as JSS and Augeri and Perry... Well Perry was before the internet... thank god for that!!! could you imagine the hatred there would have been for ROR coming after the heels of Frontiers, the message boards would have been a hoot back then!! the cry would have been ROR sounds like a Perry LP not a Journey record...what happen to ross what happened to smitty... hehehe.

I'm still hoping that Journey goes with someone else, and we all know how possible that still is don't we?

Very possible!

If they hire Arnel I will turn a deaf ear and finally be done with this band for good.

The problem with me not liking Journey anymore has very little to do with Arnel. It has to do with what they did to Jeff, and what they said. They aren't interested in making any new music and are going to just tour the dirty dozen. Why would I be interested in that? Arnel might just sing the piss out of it, but I've heard someone sing the piss out of those songs for 30 years. Why would I go see them do that again? If they write and record a new album, then I might be interested, but probably not. I'm still madder than fuck about what they did to JSS. You just don't treat good people that way.

If they put out a new album, and it has good songs, I'll like it. Still will think Neal and Friga are ass-clowns, but good music is good music.

I'm not really passing judgement on the guy himself, he's just an innocent pawn in this game...I'm sure he can hit the notes, and be at least as good as Augeri in the stage presence dept. (since Augeri didn't have much of that to begin with).

I think they can find a few vocalists who can do the job musically...but they'll never find another guy who can win over a crowd as well as JSS, and that's what they're going to miss when they go out again, methinks.

A singer and a frontman/writer/contibutor are not the same thing.

Greatest hits 4ever. And "jumped the shark."

It's going to suck donkey dicks. I may have to go though. I'm a huge fan of Eddie Money and Blue Oyster Cult. Hopefully I can time it so Journey is finished playing before I get there for the other two.

The funny thing is the last time I saw BOC was in a tent outside the local Bennigan's bar and grill... get ready for the Journey clowns to be in a tent near YOU soon!

As the close-minded conservative I am, I can say I do not plan on giving it a chance if they hire Arnel. The treatment of the former three singers was enough for me. I did plan on supporting Jeremey if he were named the lead singer, simply because I consider him a friend. Rag on me all you want, I just have no interest in this...

There is a 100% chance that I will be at the next Journey show if Arnel is chosen. I suspect that he'll be better than Augeri and Soto and nowhere near Perry, but there is no better way of finding out than "live." THAT will be the true test.

How is Arnel going to be better than Jeff? Just a question. I like you dude, but you have to give me a reason on this one.

He covers the songs closer than Jeff and is much closer to Perry's "tenor" than Jeff was. While his stage presence sucks, I think he has a stronger voice than Jeff too. He's just not as polished as Jeff and doesn't have Jeff's ability to sing so many genres. Specific to AOR though, I think he's the better of the two.

That's a reasonable answer. But Dan, you have to agree, there are singers and then there are frontmen. Now, make your choice.

Rick, there IS no way!

Here's my question: When talking about stage presence and crowd interaction, I saw a few posters the past few days state that Arnel isn't gonna talk, he's gonna sing. Could someone please explain to me how in the world that is gonna be possible???? Steve Perry, Steve Augeri, and JSS are all well-known for their interaction with the audience. If Arnel isn't going to interact with them, that in itself is enough for me to say 'no thanks'. They have already moved away from their 'legacy' with that one little (actually very big) detail.

As far as stage presence goes, perhaps he'll be energized and animated by having actual musicians behind him instead of those crap ones in his cover band.

Valid point(s). However, I still have to go to one show and see how it "feels." Again, you don't know til you experience it. And I certainly respect the decision to not experience it at all.

Good enough. You are correct saying that you have to experience it to know, so I will shut up here.

No Interaction?

I'm with you Vader. I saw the best shows Journey has ever done since 86 last year.
3 in fact!!Arnel can NEVER touch those shows.I will wait to see the YouTube clips of Journey with Arnel, but they will never get another dime from me as a concert goer.I have to go out of town for work the night of the LaPlata show, but hopefully the place in Rhode Island JSS is playing will be close enough for me to go to,since I will be in Boston.
I will give my full support to JSS.Enough of the horseshit with Journey. They have turned a once great legacy into nothing more than a shit stain.

SP must be sick to his stomach over what they have done to the name Journey.

Seeing Journey at this point is the equivalent to seeing Sha Na Na at the State Fair, which I am sure is what the majority of the venues on next years tour will be.

What a shame.....
