Alan Greenspan's book, Iraq is all about oil

Of course he probably won't be believed by the Reps any more than the 3 or 4 other people who have come away from the Bush administration saying the same things, but still. Image

THE highly respected former chairman of the Federal Reserve, Alan Greenspan, launches a harshly critical attack on President George W Bush’s economic competence in his memoir published tomorrow. ..........................................

Correct- We are not turning over the 2nd biggest oil supplies in the world to Iran and AlQueda. Saddam shot terrorist Abu Nidal at point blank range and he funded terrorists. When we entered from the south, 55 Russian special opps semi's in a convoy, left for their puppet state Syria. Israel knows where the WMD's are deterioirating in the Becca Valley. It was shown on TV news. We are at war for the rest of my life to keep our way of life. Why are we not drilling off our own shores ? China is drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and what about Anwar? Russia is claiming the Artic and Eurpoe is with us on this one. Guess which party blocks us from drilling? What party do the enviomentalists vote for consistantly ? The huge polluters in the world are Europe, India and China. I am sick of paying for other countries digressions . We have been at war with Iran and Syria for all these yrs. Putin's life has been threatened if he visits Iran by some faction. But he and China need to sell that technology to our enemies to kill 2 birds with that old one stone.

Ok, so you seem to have all this figured out. What about the semi trailer loads of American currency that were found? Who was really funding what?

Alan Greenspan, the former Federal Reserve chairman, said in an interview that the removal of Saddam Hussein had been "essential" to secure world oil supplies, a point he emphasized to the White House in private conversations before the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

Greenspan, who was the country's top voice on monetary policy at the time Bush decided to go to war in Iraq, has refrained from extensive public comment on it until now, but he made the striking comment in a new memoir out today that "the Iraq War is largely about oil."

In the interview, he clarified that sentence in his 531-page book, saying that while securing global oil supplies was "not the administration's motive," he had presented the White House with the case for why removing Hussein was important for the global economy.

"I was not saying that that's the administration's motive," Greenspan said in an interview Saturday, "I'm just saying that if somebody asked me, 'Are we fortunate in taking out Saddam?' I would say it was essential."

I disagreed with going into Iraq. Period.

I no longer do. I now know that the kurds and others are happy we went in.

Fuck off. Bush is a dick, but it ended up being the right thing to do.

And leaving now would be selfish. We went in, and leaving would hurt so many innocent people it isn't even funny.

Agreed. When people bring up the argument about resources though its dumb because we have
resources here they want (like timber, steel, etc.) and they have what we want. I agree with you about the
war though, if people could just see the big picture and how many people over there are living better lives.

I used to think it was about oil. The people over there are committed. Unbelievable! They get it.

Your husband is a hero.

Most of Iraq is stable. People need to read more.

At that time the best currency to hold was the U.S. Now Euro is another. Today a worry is how many U S securities China owns. This was caused by Americans buying cheap China goods at most stores. It comes with a price. China will soon have ,if not already, the top Navy and weapons. Much was obtained by industrial espionage. The rest is with our purchases. Oh and I do not think I know everything, but I listen to news from every source and radio and papers and follow stories. I am a news nut and a MR nut !

You mean like "Beware Of Dog", "No Parking" and "At Your Own Risk?" What about "In God We Trust?"Cliche at it's finest!

"In God We Trust" is a statement of purpose and, as such, is proper, in my opinion. The others are merely warnings. The "Baby On Board" signs are pointless. Like I'm going to smash my car up everywhere else until I see a BOB sign.

Are you saying that the cliche, "What Would Jesus Do?" wouldn't give one incentive to act accordingly? Maybe more so than "In God We Trust" because sometimes folks more often than not, get the shitty end of the stick and people say, "I'ts the will of God," followed by,"God Never gives us more than we can bare" or words to that effect. Maybe the cliche should be changed to "In The Will Of God We Trust."

I totally agree, Dave, and have never been a fan of that slogan. I think it's misleading as to what imitating Christ is all about. Not supposed to be of our own effort, but from God acting thru us.

I think Ed was talking about reading this kind of stuff. Even though you may not like its contents or fit into your wishful thinking on the subject.

Amen to that, T-Bone! 8)

Wish more people would feel that way, and realize that what they say in the public eye puts those overseas in harms way, and gives the enemy more fodder for their propaganda.

Haha. Check back in November of 2008...you will see who the losers are. It sure as Hell won't be the "Liberals."

Your pathetic excuse for tyranny, err, republican party has fucked up not only America, but the entire world. Hell, don't despair though, they are trying to rally the idiotic soccer moms(red state idiots), around Old Glory, for a quick run into Iran before this fucked up administration's time runs out in 15 months. Should be easy though, eh? I expect W to come flying in on another aircraft carrier exclaiming "Mission Accomplished." Oops, did that already didn't we, but wasn't close to being true, and we look like assholes. Hillary has to clean up this corrupt moron and his evil VP's bullshit.

Go on, cheer away.

I hate both political parties, truth be told. The left is making a mistake advocating pulling out of Iraq now though, just as some on the right are as well. Nice job from Pelosi angering the Turks with that resolution condemning something that happened in World War I. Great timing!

Yeah Dean, explain that genius move from one of your hereos.

Here's some reading.

http://www.michaeltotten.com/

I agreed the war was the complete clusterfuck many of you think it is at first. And I'm not going to sit here and try and sugarcoat it, but the articles on that site gave me some new perspective.

There's a LOT to read there and it isn't slanted one way or another. Good reading and very enlightening. Truth be told, I hate both political parties, but calling for a withdrawl now is pure politics and it's not the right call. We already bailed on the Kurds once, and they are very pro United States. Read on about some of the atrocities that al Qaeda attempted in Iraq and how it failed them and turned many segments of the population in favor of the United States forces.

Bagdhad is a horrible mess, as are some other places, but if you read some of the articles on that page I provided you will see it isn't like that everywere. No rosey picture being painted on that site, just some more perspective on what is actually going on, not just a 2 minute soundbyte.

I won't be sorry to see Bush and the Republicans out of power, but the left isn't the answer either. How about politicians thinking for themselves and not bending to the left or the right and to Big Money?

Nah, it would make too much sense.

Rockindeano wrote:Your pathetic excuse for tyranny, err, republican party

You mean tyranny as in legally stealing money thus freedom from its citizens or bypassing the legislative system and going to the courts to enforce law (including foreign law) on its citizens? You who are chomping at the bit to give more and more of it to the gov't.
Rockindeano wrote:republican party has fucked up not only America, but the entire world.

It's not the republican party who is intentionally trying to piss one of our middle east allies (Turkey) off by trying to pass a resolution to condemn something that happened 100 years ago. Thus potentially cutting off our supply lines (through Turkey) to our troops with food, ammo, armour, whatever they may need. It's your treasonous party that is going out of its way to try to lose this war and help the enemy.
Rockindeano wrote:I expect W to come flying in on another aircraft carrier exclaiming "Mission Accomplished."

The mission was to defeat Saddam and his feared Royal Guard that was supposed to take out 10,000 coalition soldiers before Bagdad fell. The war with Iraq is long over, this is the war on terror. Get with it dude!
Rockindeano wrote:Hillary has to clean up this corrupt moron and his evil VP's bullshit.
