If there was something to be released, you'd think Andrew would've been kept in the loop.
Oh well, so much for those cds.

You know, I thought about that the other day -- what a surprise that would be (and a good one). It would help them save some credibility, as he was with the band for 8 years, but still... wishful thinking.

His voice couldn't handle it last time, I doubt it would be any better the second time around. He had a great voice but isn't capable of singing Journey tunes night after night without it damaging his voice.

You know for the two assholes making comments about him going back to the gap or bass shops. If he hadn't taken the reigns for eight years you two fucksticks would be on here pissing and moaning and lamenting the fact that there was NO Journey at all. Leave the fucking guy alone, he's been beaten to no end on these boards and it's time to let it go.

Well, it's really a shame. I read in his interview w/Andrew how he had to warm up 2 hours before showtime just to open his voice up to singing in that higher range. He mentioned some people have it naturally, and others have to work harder at it. I actually sing very comfortably in that range, so I've never had problems w/Journey tunes, but I've also never done 3 hour shows like he has... not to mention night after night...
Wishing him the best. I really enjoyed his work w/Journey.

Relax tough guy. It was a joke. He is certainly a decent guy and deserved a better fate. I'm certain that he'll end up on his feet, even if he can't sing anymore. You know that Journey has pissed all over him and forgotten about him already. It's a good thing he seems to have a great head on his shoulders.
Actually, mine was more a dig at how Journey fucks people over without thinking about it. They cut him loose without much of a thought because he couldn't do it anymore and Jeff was a better choice. I seem to remember an interview with Neal at the time saying something like Jeff has brought the fans back to what it was like with Perry. He was looking forward to the future of Journey. Of course, they fucked him over too.

Hey man, I was joking and I said so on the damn post if you read it. I am a SA fan, probably a bigger fan than you. I certainly appreciate his contributions to this band and wish he were still part of it. I wont
ever let go-of the fact that I am a fan and have the right to converse about him. Too bad if you dont like it.

I agree Rip. Not that I think it will ever happen, but I would love to see SA back in Journey if his voice was back @ 100% and if the band wouldn't tour him to death.

Obviously,
SA thought he could do it
& the powers that be agreed.
So phooey
they are both to blame
I've tried to sing some of it for hours
taking your voice out of its range takes its toll.
SP had a untouchable range them
A creation of angelic orchestration
I doubt even he could duplicate
It just was a thing of beauty
like a painting or sculpture to admirw
Would you ask Michelangelo
to paint 1000 sixteen chapels
Or Leonardo Di VBinci to make untold Mona Lisa's?
Leave it be
Why try to imitate
Paint by numbers
its not the same
only one voice
in years gone by
Let it be
Cherish what we have
Make new mastyerpieces
thats what they should be doing
not some old broken record
of what can never be again....

It will be difficult for him to return to music as singer who could not cut it live and there will always be questions regarding tapegate and if as a solo artist he can cut it on stage.Lets be honest what could be worst than being known as a singer who mimes shows it does not exactly show your talent!!
These will be difficult times for Mr.Augeri

Do they really need to tour that much? Instead of playing a zillion dates, why not fewer shows at larger venues, resulting in less vocal stress.

I think on the whole your assumptions are incorrect Bionic. By and large, the average fan doesn't even know what happened to Augeri. The more faithful fans know now that Tapegate was a group act and not something that SA wanted to do. I stated this in another post, when you work at a job making "X" dollars, you acquire bills that require "X" dollars to pay. If you lose that job, you still have bills requiring "X" dollars to pay them. SA was faced with a situation where it was either "do this or your out". I cannot believe knowing the guy that he would ever have considered this on his own. Tapegate unfortunately was a scapegoat reason for Journey to dump SA because he, just like JSS wanted to make new music, cut his own niche and make his mark on the Journey legacy. SA wanted to step out of the immense shadow of Perry and be known for who he is. He spent 8 years getting beat down with the whole "he aint Perry" thing. No shit! They are two entirely different performers with decidedly different vocal styles. SA was starting to assert himself as the frontman with respect to getting new albums made. Now of course I'll hear what a debacle Generations was but the argument here is simple. He was the only one that really wanted to create new music. The rest of the guys just went through the motions. Think I'm kidding, go look at the archives of Andrew's interviews with the band. Neal said as much right in the interview. I believe that Steve has enough of a loyal following to succeed very well on his own. His voice is fine now.
