Saw this on the news this morning:

Steven Tyler, frontman of the highly successful band Aerosmith is set to appear on National Geographic Channel’s ‘Incredible Human Machine’ on Sunday October 21st, where they will televise the cutting edge laser surgery he underwent to repair his vocal chords.

Footage of the legendary rocker’s surgery will be shown, as well as a backstage test that evaluated the stress that singing put on his vocal chords.

Tyler was fitted with a vest to monitor his vital readings during a sold-out show in the bands hometown of Boston. The vest monitored Tylers heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels, lung capacity and body temperature to show the impact his performance has on his body.

The National Geographic programme will show this test as well as high-definition photos of Tyler’s larynx during the operation, and before-and-after photos illustrating how his vocal chords were repaired.

I wonder if Perry could be a candidate?

I think Perry just doesn't want to sing anymore. His voice is probably not damaged, just not up to his standards.

How ironic that you would post this, as I have recently been wondering how Steve Tyler's voice holds up - there's a lot of what I call "rock screaming" in the Aerosmith catalog and I'm surprised he can still pull it off. This is going to be an interesting show!

Thanks for the heads up!

How do you know Perry hasn't already done it?

Both Perry AND Augeri should be candidates.

I don't understand why what happened with Augeri was the end of his vocal world when guys like Rod Steward and Elton John have it done every few years like a 60,000 mile service on a car.

Tyler could stand to have his chassis adjusted a bit. Maybe a good undercoating too.

Perry's voice is more than likely fine for his age, he just doesn't want to sing.

Steven Tyler has beat his voice to death, Perry has rested his voice for a longer period of time than he ever toured.

C'mon SP it's now or never....

Or Augeri, for that matter! They could call the show, "Extreme Clone Makeover" :P Just kidding... I love S.A., and he's no clone...

I HATE the White Sox. If their plane ever went down I'd throw a keg. Took a LOT for me to get over Perry "singing" for them dirtbags. Still not over it actually.
