Postby yulog » Fri Oct 26, 2007 4:49 pm

Yep, 20 songs of naptime music, this is the lightest they have ever been(and i love the eagles),i just scanned through the songs and this is going to take a long time to get through, its not what i was hoping for(i dont get to come on here much lately but figured id give a heads up on this one ---i would listen to it first before buying)

i'm guessing they don't have any rockers in the vein of 'victim of love' or 'life in the fast lane' or anything with some power behind it.if its twenty tunes of 'new kid in town' or 'despardo' type stuff i'll use it as a sleeping pill.wow i wonder if they think they can't rock a little because they are older or what.they probably have a couple ballads that will hit number one similar to something like 'love will keep us alive' i'm guessing.joe walsh should've lit a fire under 'em.i'm guessing he didn't......

Sorry to hear that.

I'm going to have to check it out anyway, but it sounds like I'm going to be disappointed.

Don't be so sure, AR. Shaw/Blades isn't exactly a rockfest either, but it is a great CD.

Song 5 is a timothy schmidt song --almost sounds like his hit "I cant tell you why"(its almost the same song),its called "i dont want to hear anymore". They stick to the same formula...most songs are henley and frey with a couple by walsh and schmidt---its just very Image

Well at least it must be great to hear the old boys at least doing SOMETHING. They're doing more than a lot of old bands.

And by the way, fucker, why are you not on here very much anymore? You ARE missed.

I love the Eagles, but I suppose most rock fans would like their songs to be more uptempo.

The new Fogerty starts off the same way, before he picks up the tempo. Doesn't seem to be as good as Deja Vu or the masterpiece Blue Moon Swamp, but at least he picks it up. Of course, now that there's a new album, all other albums weren't that good or weren't the real vision of the artist and this is the "best one yet". These artists and critics are so full of s***!!!!!!!!!!

The best track in my opinion is the title track Long Road Out of Eden. It is over 10 minutes long but its a good tune. I don't agree about "I don't Want To Hear Anymore" sounding like "I Can't Tell You Why'. Again, it's just my opinion. 20 songs is too many, and they definitely needed some rockers in there. Way too many mid-tempo and slow songs.

I thought you were in AZ. I feel for those folks in SoCal.

On Saturday night's shows the 2300h (11pm) is New Music Nashville. This week's edition featured three of the songs from the new album. I already love "How Long", I'm stealing it off the new CDX tonight. "No More Cloudy Days" was okay. "Too Busy Being Fabulous" was kind of catchy, it might grow on me after a while. I guess we'll see, but I'll take what I can get as far as new material from these guys.

I will agree it is mostly ballads, but there are some harder edged songs on the second disc that I did not expect from them. "Long road out of eden" is a long song with slow parts, but there are some very heavy parts in that song I did not expect.
"somebody" is rocking, "Last good time in town" is a groovy mid tempo rocker, "how long" rocks, "Fast company" is edgy, "Guilty of the crime" is fast pace. "Frail grasp on the big picture" is a grooving rocker, "business as usual" is a darker edgy Mid tempo rocker. The rest is slower or slow mid tempo.

I do enjoy this album, takes a few times to get used to some of the songs and In my own opinion I think it sounds like classic eagles. I am just glad they came out with this. I thought they were done when they started their farewell tours.
