Andrew, Since today is November 1st there and tomorrow here in the states, and the gag order was supposed end at the end of October, how about trying to contact Steve A and see what's going on. Maybe he'll talk now.

It would be awesome if Augeri would lay a verbal smackdown on Frig & Fro but you know he's not going to do that.

I agree, he, like JSS will take the high road and show his class. It would be great though if he lit into them.

At this point, I'd take just the plain and simple facts of what happened and how it happened. I don't even care if he expresses anger or not - just say something that doesn't sound like a studio publicity release.

Better yet, sing something! I like Steve Augeri and I want to hear him sing - I have his non-Journey stuff and I really enjoy it.....

I have e-mailed Steve a dozen times during the course of 2007. No replies... He knows where to find me when he's ready.

It's a shame about what happened to him. He certainly derserved better. To come in back in '98 and try to fill the shoes of a legend. Then, he works like a dog for the next eight years...all the while thinking that he's got the support of his organization. He breaks down...the embarassment of "tapegate"...then he gets booted for Jeff. To make matters worse, his former band mates throwing him under the bus, in one way or another. So much for "dying for a cause".

Even with the $xM that he walked away with, I feel a little bad for the guy.

I don't think he walked away with much to be honest.

Even though I never liked the guy that's just not right. I think Jeremey was right to back away causiously and as wrong as they were to treat JSS the way they did they may have inadvertently been doing him a favor.

Agreed. It's like when you work for a small company you, in many cases, feel like you're part of something and have some control over the direction of the company. You know everybody and everybody knows you...like a family atmoshpere. When you work for a big company you don't have the same sense of personality. I get the sense that the Journey organization is very cold, sterile, and business-like. It's all about "the numbers", marketing, profit margins, and ROI. A "churn 'em and burn 'em" meat factory, of sorts. Instead of feeling like you're part of something special, you feel like a cell on a spreadsheet that can be deleted with one keystroke.

On the other hand, depending on what your values and priorities are and how willing you might be to subject yourself to this type of an environment, maybe it would be worth doing. If you would be content just being the deletable "cell".

And there ya go. I love that analogy. What is being called Journey now cares nothing about the singer and that's why they're nothing but a nostalgic name. It was the singer that made Journey a band that can live off their legacy.

Are you saying you doubt the report that he was given $2 mil to walk away? I'd never heard that until it was mentioned in another thread recently.

VERY much doubt.

Augeri just called me. It was one of those telemarketing tape recordings that keep going even if you hang up on it........

I hope he speaks up at some point. Neal trashed him worse than anyone online as he was a band mate. Uncalled for. I bet you Schon snickered as we lit the torches. :x

No more. Most of us know better now.

I will pay to get or see whatever S.A. is up to before the midget gets a dime from me.

Augeri deserves a medal for putting up with everything he had to deal with.

Same here. I'll support SA and JSS no matter what the cost. I wonder if SA isn't saying anything because he can't without slamming his former employer. I think that would show more class than anything else. Maybe the best thing to do would be to let his music speak for him. Kind of show Schon and Cain know what they gave up.

I agree with what most have said - it would be great to hear SA's side. He wouldn't have to take the low road and trash them (even though they have earned it)... I think the truth would probably handle that all by itself.

Agreed. They have to find someone, anyone, who can imitate the Perry sound close enough to make the average fan (not people here who care about it at the level we do) who knows the songs from Top40 Radio in the 70s and 80s want to pay to hear them again. Even if it is Journey without the original vocalist, but someone who can sound similar to the unknowing fan.

Without the singer, the band is just that, a band of musicians. Neal has said several times that "there are a lot of guys out there who play like me better that I do". Thousands of people can play Jon's parts (maybe not write the songs, but play the music).

Journey is about the songs and the singer. The songs are forever, there are enough hits to play a show every night without new music, get the singer and they are on their way to making some $ again.

For whatever reason Jeremey was cautious, which I think history with these guys warrants. Based on what has been speculated about how Augeri was treated at the end and what we know about how JSS was treated, Jeremey made a smart move for himself.

In the end, maybe Journey with JSS or Jeremey would not have done any better than with Arnel, or anyone else. Not a knock on JSS or Jeremey at all. From what I have seen they are both great talents and great guys to boot. More a knock on the boobs in the band who keep finding a way to screw up a good thing and hose the singer along the way.

IMO, better for Jeremey and JSS to not have to put up with the stress and crap these guys seem to hand out and instead move on with life being able to tell people that Journey called and asked me to be their lead singer.

Good post there. Yep. If Augeri announced that he's performing again, I'd make it a point to see him.

BTW, are you on the island?

Maybe they said they'd sue him for a couple of million unless he kept quiet, and someone got the report mixed up.

I really don't care if SA says anything about what happened, I just want to know when we can hear some new tunes and where he will be playing.

I agree with everything that has been stated previously. Even though I initially thought that SA was not a good fit for Journey, he certainly grew on me. Has a very good voice, and is an extremely talented and classy individual. I am ashamed of myself for even being mad at him about tapegate. He got completely screwed over by Journey and crucified. He really took the fall for their (Journey's) sins. I wish him nothing but success in the future and hope I can catch him on tour soon.

Augeri has been leading a dbl life for some time now and has fallen back on this more peaceful existence with Goulet's daughter. They can't marry cause he's already married but his termination from Journey was the perfect excuse to lose himself in a life more suited to his temperment.

OK... LOL... Caught me off guard for a sec. I thought this was somehow tying into the recent news of Robert Goulet's passing. Guess that's another Steve Augeri, and an unrelated Goulet!

I want someone to round up Augeri, Soto and Perry - stuff them in a room with a huge pile of cash and get them all to co-write a tell-all. Charge out the ass if they want - it WILL sell. That's some good reading right there.

Make it seperate rooms and you might have a deal. I can see JSS and SP in the same room and having a good time of it, but I don't see SP wanting to be with Augeri, nor Augeri wanting to be with JSS. Maybe ten years from now, but not right now.

And oh yes, it would absolutely sell. Image

Separate rooms, maybe, but really, Augeri's presence wasn't personal against Perry (not from SA's angle anyway) and JSS's wasn't personal against SA, so... they can be big boys! LOL!! I would expect a minimum bond would exist in the knowledge that all 3, though in their own unique circumstances, were supremely ass-fucked by the same band. In fact, that should be the title of the book. Introduction by Robert Fleischman. (he wasn't there long enough or well known enough to collaborate but let's throw him a scooby snack)

I just want all three to come out with brand new solo releases this year. WOW! Wouldn't that be great?
