I am currently stuck in a hotel in Tijuana, Mexico on a business trip. I have spent all day in the room with some sort of virus that has caused me to lose my voice and I am hacking up green stuff to the point that I puke. To add to my misery, I have just passed a kidney stone that looks like some sort of asteroid from Star Trek (see below).

To top it all off, I am taking some sort of cough medicine which I don't know what's in it and I don't read Spanish. I tried looking it up online and even translating the words through babelfish, to no avail. It knocks me out, and came in a bottle with a sealed plastic top. It looks legit, but who knows what it is and how it might interact with other meds. Oh, well, if I never post here again, you will know what happened...

So, I just wanted to take a few moments to thank all of you for giving me something to do besides watch Spanish language ESPN and HBO all day. Having this board really is entertaining. It's like having neighbors, only better. This way, I don't have to hear you complain about how bad my lawn looks or the fact that stray dogs keep dragging my trash into your yard.

Thanks most to you, Andrew, for giving us this alter-world in which to play, for putting up with the crap that we sometimes (OK, frequently... OK, almost hourly) post here, and in general providing a great forum.

That kidney stone looks rough! Drink more water, and even more!! Cranberry juice a few times a month, a little apple juice as well. Ouch those puppies can hurt from what I've been told. oooh...

Damn!!! TJ, if you're in Tijuana (also referred to as TJ I might add), you should be a hop skip and a jump to San Diego. There's a train that runs to the border through downtown Diego. You need to look into a 24 clinic in that area and get yourself there pronto.

Bottled water. Stay away from the water out of the tap.

Another suggestion was to mix 3 cups or asparagus and 2 liters of Pepsi in a blender and then drink it all in one quick setting. It was supposed to "flush" the stone out. Never tried it but was thinking about sending it into Mythbusters to see if they could.

BTW - out of Tijuana and back in San Diego. Much better.

Holy cow, TJ, that stone looks painful. I had one last year that was not nearly that size, and it hurt like hell. It almost feels like labor pains when it's working it's way out. Glad you finally passed it. Hope you feel better. Get well soon.

I feel for you, I passed 2 this summer. It was the most awful thing I've ever had.

My doc told me to lay off the Tums. Too much calcium.

Is that really what it looked like?!?! That looks like the acidic kind.
There is only one other kind to have that's worse than that.

Wow... that's rough, no pun intended at all. Hope you feel better. :(

Somebody lock this thread already. I'm about ready to vomit every time I see that stone. You may as well post a pic of a removed cancerous testicle also.

Some people thought it was odd, too, when I passed another stone around in Sunday School class several years ago. :?
