From Iraq, w/Love, Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope each and every single one of you have a wonderful day.
Savor every moment you spend w/your families and friends and
never forget that days like these, days of love and celebration, are
what life is all about!

I can't count how many holidays I have missed in the past 17 years
but I am not here to complain. I am not here looking for sympathy
because I don't need it from you folks; you folks give me support, unbiased
friendship and tons of laughs every single day! Sometimes I feel SO not worthy.

Though I miss them deeply, I know I have a loving family waiting for me when I get back.
For me, days like this while deployed wind up being days of reflection...
I always tend to go down that "Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda" road of memories.
I look back on life and wonder if I did everything right or what life would
be like if I had made different choices long ago.

Then I realize what I have: A wonderful wife, 2 beautiful daughters,
friends, family, a rewarding and satisfying career...
I realize that "Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda's" are pointless because everything
I have done up until this point in my life has brought me to where I am now.
One change or deviation and I may have never met my wife.
There may never have been a 'Bella' or 'Abby' cradled in my arms...

Point is, folks, cherish every moment. Live for "Now".
Take this day to reflect and be thankful...
Even if you are down on your luck, hell, you're still breathing, right???

Well, no slaving in the kitchen for moi today!
I'll be hittin' the Chow Hall soon for some grub!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING FOLKS! 8)

What a wonderful post, Carl. Thank you. We so often take our families and friends for granted. I personally am so fortunate and thankful for my husband and 4 children, THEY are what get me up every morning.

I'm also thankful for my 'online' family, here and at the Annex. Some of you guys are like extended family. Heck, some of you are around the country (or even the world) and I talk to you more often than folks who live just 5 minutes away from me. In my year here at MR, there have been so many ups and downs~celebrations and tragedies, but we've weathered them all together. Thank you, guys.

Carl, I am forever grateful for the sacrifice you have chosen to make for me & my loved ones. I hope for the best for you this Thanksgiving Day!!! :D

Hi, Carl....

Thank you so much for your post...it is EXACTLY what I needed to hear today, regarding "coulda, shoulda, woulda".

And I am in TOTAL AGREEMENT with you: Things happen out a certain way, and that's why I met my Husband....and Music is the reason why I'm here, and met all you Fab People.

GOD BLESS YOU AND ALL HERE!!! HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! CHEERS!! \~/
